Sunday Jan 25th - Stef's Suffolk Sideways Run

The Fenland Fives are having a Suffolk/Cambs run on 25th January.  We'll be starting off from Ely but intend having a meet up point at The Manger in Bradfield Combust in case some ER buddies wished to tag along and make it an even bigger run.

Full route details to be confirmed when Sir Stefalot has polished off the route.  The finishing point, again to be confirmed is Dunwich.  The sideways thing is only optional and is mostly due to the FF trend of using alliteration when naming runs and events and the route instructions will be just as easy to follow in a forward direction too!

Any ER takers?  Please respond below.

     Thanks.

    Daz

I have a Club committee meet on the Saturday so may well need to go driving to calm the nerves on Sunday... Keep us posted...  If going to Dunwich then I guess its lunch at the Ship ?

Lunch at Dunwich sounds good! Perhaps some of the Norfolk 'lot' would like a mini run to a rendez-vous point? Jude x

Stef is still working out the detail.  If The Ship is good then I shall suggest it to him.  There's some talk of us 3 amigos continuing on to Southwold or somewhere else and finding some digs and making an evening of it.  That is, of course, if we can find some cheap digs and anywhere that sells intoxicating beverages.  Any suggestions most welcome.

I've had confirmation from Stef that the finish point is the fish and chip shop on the beach at Dunwich.

It may have changed now but it never used to be open in the winter.....

South of Southwold, east of Yoxford, don't stand too near the sea as the tide is taking over, and yes you'll need a passport as you drive a red car!!!!!

That would make sense as I don't imagine it gets busy out of season.  I have passed on this concern to Sir Stefalot and I'll see what he comes back with.  Maybe The Ship makes more sense afterall.

I'll update the thread when we've sorted it.

Re: Sunday Jan 25th - Stef's Suffolk Sideways Run

Details are all now confirmed as below: -

The run will officially start from the Manger in Bradfield Combust, the ER suffolk monthly meet point, just south of Bury St Edmunds on the A134. We will meet here at 10am.

Once Stef has noted everyones' mileage, cars will be given route instructions, complete with clues that need answering. When you have instrucions/clues, you may leave when you like, but I suggest spacing the departures so we are not all just following each other round the route.

The route ends at the Dunwich chip shop, as it has a very large car park, although the shop will be closed so we will be dining in the Ship pub, just around the corner (easy walking distance). See www.shipatdunwich.co.uk.

Depending on how you drive and how lost you get, typically the run takes about two and a half hours. As we will not all be leaving bang on 10am, and there may be some stragglers, Stef plans to book lunch for 1:30pm , to allow a bit of leeway.

There will also be a mini-convoy from the BP Garage on the A142/A10 roundabout in Ely over to the official start point for those who would like to join in a bit earlier. That will start at 9:00 am  for a 9:15 am departure. The route will follow (i.e. copy) Roadster Robbie's route,so begins at the BP garage at the roundabout of the A10 and A142, should get us to Bradfield Combust for 10:00am.

If you can let Stef know if you will be joining in, either by replying to the email sent to the Fenland Fives mailing list, making your intentions known at the Fenland Fives meet next Tuesday or replying to this thread here in the forum.

    In Summary:-

Meet @ Ely BP Arrive 09:00, Depart 09:15

Meet @ The Manger, Bradfield Combust - Arrive 10:00.  Departing separately

Finish @ Dunwich Fish & Chip Shop, Lunch at The Ship - 13:30.

    See you there!

Re: Sunday Jan 25th - Stef's Suffolk Sideways Run

     Hello again,

Stef has asked me to gauge numbers so we can add them to the FF list and let the pub know how many people to expect for lunch.

    So far we have: -

     Neil,

    Martin

    Jamie & Claire

    Judith (lunch only, no run)

Neil and Martin - are you bringing a passenger?  You'll probably need one for the clues/answers etc along the way plus we need to know for numbers.  Thanks.

Any more takers on what should be a really good run to start the new year?
