Re: What irritates you most about other road users.

Personally all you drivers out there are all OK with me, at least you do drive a car, who cares if you do it badly.

What's currently doing my head in, big time, is my Local Council who continually tinker with the road system, spending my money, but never, ever, seem to do anything to speed things up or make my life better, they only ever create more hold ups as they close off more and more of your favourite back street roads, add more and more traffic lights, one way roads, bus lanes and cycle lanes.

Recent changes here now mean I travel for the first three quarters of a mile home in the evening at an average speed of 1mph to get out of the town centre and the traffic jam will regularly extend in through the car park entrance and up the multi-storey ramp... all as a direct result of more stupid unnecessary Council road tinkering in the last could of weeks. Before that is was slow but no where near as bad.

No wonder all the drivers are all so bad tempered, we are all driven to it (literally!)

    Riisa:
I know there are a many few 'experienced' drivers on this forum, but much older people on the road are a nightmare, they have no sense of judgement or perception. They are seriously scary.

Yep, I too have had some bad experiences with some seriously old people who should have handed the licence in, but please don't bunch everyone over 60 into the same crap driver bracket, after a while it gets boring and offensive.

When I said old people, I mean SERIOUSLY old, like 80-90! The old granny you see that's barely got enough strength and co-ordination to open the door let alone drive the thing, and then they drive everywhere at 20mph and start breaking 2 miles before they need to stop etc. only the dangerous people who have trouble breathing let alone driving. My Dad was in his mid 60's and still riding his YZF-R1!

I'm sure if you have been a member of the same forum for many years, then you are more than likely going to see the same topics appearing on the forum however boring.

New members join all the time so it is highly likely to come up if people have a common opinion on the subject. Great thing about places like this is that everyone is allowed an opinion Big Smile

Isn't it great that we're all such good drivers on here that we can moan about the "Other" drivers from our moral high ground without being seen as hypocrites...... LOL Big Smile

I went to the bank today to ask for a loan.

Yes been here and on the previous forum for a long time, since the original forum started, and on the email list before that. I don't think that I have ever moaned about a subject being re raised for the 6th or 7th time, except maybe the one about sticky front platesWink. I was refering to people slagging off other elderly drivers, remember if you live long enough you too will be old one day!

Sure are, just don't **** people off, I like to think that we are a friendly crowd on this forum

When I follow the speed limit 30 mph on bolton road, bury and other road users speed up and try to push me along, then they overtake when the crossed lines tell them not to!

Swerving lorry drivers on the motorway who decide to indicate just as you are passing on the right and I have to beep them to get back where they were.

Drivers who dont use up the left lane when its empty for over a mile or so and they stay in the middle lane.  Two hours later they realiseConfused

drivers who dont know what chevrons mean - easy peasy just keep apart two chevrons !!!!

Night drivers. Not in lamplit areas but out in the dark NSLs.
You wish to overtake but they have their lights on dip reducing your vision of the lie of the road.
Again, overtaking and people who fail to dip once you have completed your overtake.
And, finally, those who flash you... not to say 'your safe' but 'how dare you overtake me'.

Re: What irritates you most about other road users.

Occasionally I have an "economy" tank of fuel and saunter into work along the A14 to Ipswich at 50mph exactly, nice day, roof down, not a problem for most reasonable peeps, they all overtake me in a nice line with no problems. Its those (insert own word here between 3-5 letters) who arent paying attention and come scooting up behind me to find they cant get past, so what do those impatient (select similar word) do. They flash and beep like I've done something wrong by doing 50 on THEIR piece of road. When they slide past with steam coming out of their overworked saloon's chimney, I do like to give them a wave.................to cheer them on their way. Also had this happen in a 30 zone last weekend. I was doing err 30, yes that was it, when this (you get the idea by now) Clio "driver", who had already overtaken the poor bloke behind me in the 30 limit, well he just couldnt wait for the end of the limit to get past me, revved it like a mad person, beeped like....a mad person and so I had of course to 'wave' to him too, only polite.

In short Big Smile impatient drivers, or lorry drivers who come right up behind cos they think i will speed up for them, I aint moving, there is no minimum on dual carriageways. Grrrr

What I hate when I'm out working in my lorry and I get stuck behind these people tootling along at well below the speed limit, Don't these people know we've got an angry boss to pacify and appointments to keep?

Re: What irritates you most about other road users.

No need to keep trying to kiss my rear end and flash your bits at me sir Big Smile. funnily enough i find most lorry drivers get past nice and smoothly, because they are doing their job, its those impatient persons who should not be out on Martin's roads who annoy me. Thinking of letting off some steam on a track day.............

Sorry Pollyanna, didnt mean to generalise - perhaps its an area thing as there are 2 things we have plenty of in the Worcester / Malvern area - awesome roads and elderly people.  I just have the luck to always get the ones who dawdle etc....
I feel the same about the darling old dears that are lucky enough to have retired who insist on using the supermarket / bank / post office between the hours of 12 - 2 Monday through Friday!  They have all day, I have an hour (at best, if i'm really lucky!) why cant they work around this I wonder?

My other gripe and its a personal one however others may have experienced similar so.......
I pay £75 a month for the priviledge of my city centre parking as such I expect to be able to access it day and night easily.....I do not expect to pull in to find one of the skanky delivery drivers from the pizza shop accross the street parked accross my gates while in the shop chatting waiting for their next delivery to avoid the parking tickets they kept being issued for parking illegally outside the shop!  If they want the convenience of parking there then pay up like everyone else has to - F******g freeloading cheeky t***s!!! (feel better now ive got that off my chest haha)

The fact is that these old gits [I'm one so I can use the termWink] have put in the hard miles, worked most of there lives, hopefully saved a bit, and now they are enjoying life. They pay the same road taxes and insurance as you do, so have every right to be on the road when they choose. Slow down, smell the roses there will be plenty of oportunities for you enjoy yourself. If you really wnat to have a go, get to a track day and have fun

    The second point

Out here I always shop at about 1pm, why? because all the moms are getting lunch and the kids are at school, the old folks are getting the cheap lunch at the bowling club and I can have a run at the shops.

Remember we all get old Wink
