    Tin Rot :(

Whilst investigating the drivers side sill I've found a ~3inch circle of rust. Which neatly explained why that area seemed "soft" when I used the scissor jack! I'm guessing it's probably a bit late for the Dinitrol kit I bought...

Can anyone recommend a garage in the Staffordshire area (near Rugeley would be fab) that have delt with this is the past / were good?

No sorry Chris, it's been a long time since I required any bodywork repairing and not in the Rugeley area. I'm sure someone will come up with a suggestion.

    Re: Tin Rot :(

Not Staffs, but Nuneaton; MNS Accident Repair, round the back from Sam Goodwin. Martin has done a fair few MX5 sills (including mine), and knows how much needs to be chopped out. Some body shops I spoke to hadn't a clue; one tried to convince me that he only needed to cut out a circle  and new metal welded in.

Not sure what he will charge just for a sill repair, since he welded my sill up as part of a respray (£1200 for sill, dents, carbon fiber bumper restoration and full repaint). A year later, when the other sill started to show signs (water bleeding through the paint), he did that sill for me FOC.

     Hi All,

I agree with AT, I had my sills and arches done recently by Martin. Did a good job. Really nice bloke. He also has an MX. Came recommended to me by Sam Goodwin. They get stuff done there.

I paid just over £300 for both sills and the arches. He also sprayed up my mudflaps at the same time at no extra cost. That was about a month or so ago. My car is yellow mica which can be a pain to match but they did a good job. One word of warning tho. He doesn't take cards, very old school. Cheques or cash.

Am NEM at the minute but recently moved to Telford so we may pop in to one of your meets soon. We were on the run yesterday.

    Cheers
