1993 1.8 S-Special.  Coilovers, Non std alloys, Sports Exhaust and Induction Kit. I'm 34.

Two years ago Direct Line were the cheapest at £350 ish - Insurance company themselves were good but their Fylde based approved repairer Accident Repair Centre (in Blackpool) were appalling.  The sprayed my nosecone a slightly different colour to the rest of the car, they claimed not to be able to get mudguards so couldn't fix them and with an annoying pull to the left when I got the car back we got into a bit of a discussion with Wheels in Motion involved.  ARC solution was to put the repaired front alloy on the back.

I decided to take it to Mazda to get it checked.  They wouldn't let me drive home and declared it unfit to be back on the road.

Currently with Swinton.  Lowest quote by a LLLOOOOOONNNGGG way at £330.  Not had to use them so cant really comment.

I think your postcode counts for a hellava lot.  When giving examples of insurance quotes from different companies it would be nice if you could give an indication of where you live.

I live in Outer London (which is bad as far as insurance is concerend) and can't get my 5 insured comprehensive, 4 years NCB, no claims/convictions, oldish Wink, only driver, garaged, non-performance mods  ..........  for less than £555 - Admiral

As for Saga over 50 policy - what a joke - they wanted £675

Your postcode is all important - please give it, or part of it.

    Re: Insuring your MX5/Roadster

You're right, though location is too - when it's mentioned. Mine is NG9, (all I'm listing) but it's enough for a good idea of costs up here. Giving a full postcode is asking for trouble - - - - !

Totally agree with what you say about Saga, my experience was similar  - though not as bad as yours. Pity someone hasn't got brain enough to arrange a Club group policy with an insurance company, we could all contribute towards it, which would make it a juicy plum to an insurer, but at less individual cost than doing it direct ourselves. Breakdown insurance is a good example, that works for some companies - insurance brokers as an example. Inevitable that some will moan that their contribution is paying the raised cost for larger connubation residents, but a reduced rate for all would still be an advantage.  The only alternative is arranging a Club policy for ALL members, but some will get higher premiums than others, - this is what happened with AON. OR all will pay higher premiums anyway - the so called "Level playing field" - - - - Insurance - at any level - is a life-con, we all pay it, like unemployment insurance, but we don't all get the benefit. It's blackmail of a sort, based on a two letter word - "If|" which is the worse word ever invented! We dream about "Ifs", fear "Ifs" and even agonise about them too.

If only I were a rich man! (Of course, we all could be much better off without insuring against all the "Ifs" in life.)

Where's that island paradise then? - the one real estate hasn't found yet?

I use Adrian Flux for my MK1 - highly recommended and offer discount to owner club members. Just ask.

Hopefully I wil never use the claims department - so it might be helpful to get feedback on claims experience across the insurance industry.

Spoke to Aviva who will consider certain mods with a premium adjustment, also tried Adrian Flux, Footman James, Richard Egger, NFU Mutual and various others, Aviva still win by a very healthy margin suprisingly even when playing the owners club card. I would say definitely give them a try. Smile

I had a claim on a Ford Focus with LV 5 years ago.  They were quite good but their recomended repairers had to have the car back through sloppy finishing.  They got it right 2nd time though.

Re: Insuring your MX5/Roadster (Help Please)

My insurance is due for renewal with Adrian Flux priced at £940 best so far.

Note all the recommendations about Richard egger/rias were pointless they dont insure under 25 :(

    Details:

mk1 Eunos Roadster 1.6 year 1991 > Pipercross Induction Kit

Age 21, 4 years no claims, 1 year on this car. 1 sp30:15/05/2007. I have a parent I can stick on it too with 24 years as a license holder and 15+ years no claims and no motoring offences.

Postcode Mk46 5er kept on a driveway. Annual Milage 10k

It still seems so expensive is there any more insurers to try other then footman james. Aviva wont insure imports anymore and direct line wont insure me since im under 25 with an import. I tried the comparison website but still around £1000. Any suggestions at all? is there even anyone out there paying a similar price? Should I go for classic insurance?

    Re: Insuring your MX5/Roadster

Another "thumbs up" for REIS. They've just insured me for a shade under £250 for the year - beating A-Plan (who insured my MX5 for the last two years) by almost £120. Quite how A-Plan thought they could increase my premium by 20% and still keep my business is beyond me.
