Our forth Silverstone Classic and another excellent weekend (well 3 days actually). Obviously big thanks to Peter for all the time and effort that he obviously put in, ably supported as ever by Lucy. Ken was busying around as ever and thanks too all the other helpers who gave up ther time to make the stand so well organised. Sorry I dont know all your names but you know who you are. No doubt having had our pitch moved at such late notice did not help but it all worked out in the end. So for those that missed out due to ticket issues lets hope you can make it next year.
That said I think luck was on our side, as appart from Friday night when we had some heavy rain it remained dry, or I fear we would have been in trouble with the stand location being on a fairly steep slope, which had it been wet or raining would have caused chaos with access or particularly leaving the site. Lets hope we can be located on a level site next time.
So here's looking forward to next year.
Regards, Phil.

I never got a chance to come & say hello as our breaks kept getting lost due to inconsiderate drivers crashing on track (yes, I mean you, Mr Blisset!!) but someone did put a card under my wiper on Saturday. The pitch looked good though, much neater than some of the others!

For anyone camping over the weekend, you should have had a note that tells you the camping is not in the trackside any more due to demand. It has been relocated to an offsite campsite with improved facilities apparently, but it does mean getting on a bus to get to the track.
Jack.
Jack, We were relocated to Woodlands, which the tickets reflected, but no explanation. When we arrived the addmission staff at Woodlands maintained that we had incorrect tickets for our "electric hookup" even though the tickets plainly stated it! We were told that many people were arriving with similar issues. We were eventually admitted with all of our booked facilities intact. SEEtickets really did "take the shine off" this event for a lot of people.
Having said all of that, Peter and gang once again shone through all adversity with an excellent stand, which we felt looked much better from afar, it's sloping aspect showing off the "5s" brilliantly (once those Jags had disappeared) WoW! what a lot of E-Types on track. A brilliant 3 days. The weather was not kind on Friday, especially the evening which curtailed our visit to the entertainment. Saturday was much better with some great racing and a wonderful evening to watch the sunset and 10cc whilst supping a jug of Pimms (other beverages are available) and Sunday, well it could not have been better. Blazing sunshine, great racing, aerial displays (what about that Spitfire and those parachutists) and afternoon entertainment to boot. Boy! was it hot sitting in the new stand overlooking Aintree bend and Maggots. We felt this years Classic was better than last year in many ways, although organisation maybe could have been better (conflicting/confusing information from Marshalls around the site)
Thanks again Guys & Gals.
See Y'all next year!

We got a separate letter, that seemed to have arrived before the tickets. Whether or not you got the same letter will inevitably be down to See tickets.
Agreed, they did take the shine off things, for me their weird policies and last minute approach to ticketing meant a drive to the midlands and back on the Thursday before the drive back to Silverstone on the Friday.
The marshals on the track are always brilliant, the marshals around the site were a bit of a joke - we approached a marshalled junction where we effectively had to push our nose over the junction and hope nobody came over the bridge at anything more than 20mph. They just had no idea where to point people and what was going on - I did mention that a few car club members could have done a better job in exchange for a pair of free tickets for whichever day they weren't working on...
Overall I thought it was a very good event though. Not particularly expensive for us and included the Retro Run (which was very well organised and enjoyable, definitely one for any MK1 owners looking for an active weekend at next year's Classic) which made it good value.
Full trip report with photos, video from the track etc to follow. Once I go and find the camera and write the thing that is...

Thanks to PJ, Lucy and Ken for the warm welcome to the OC stand on Saturday and Sunday.
The event organisers didn't gift us with a particularly good pitch this year but PJ and the team certainly made the best of it. Well done!

I just want to know why all the stand photo's I see feature my familly eating in them
Anyway thanks to all at the stand and yes it was very good. I enjoyed watching these old GP cars like Bugatti's struggling to corner, watching the drivers saw away at the wheel was inspiring. And it was great to see drivers going for it even in such elderly vehicles.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
Unfortunatley I didn't get to go saturday but I did go on Friday! and had a fantastic time! .... BIG BIG thank you to everyone who was on the MX5 OC stand (sorry i do not know your names) not only for organising what I think was def the best stand there but also for making my friend and i feel very welcome and a HUGE thank you for putting my roof up when the heavens opened! ... As soon as the rain came down we ran as fast as we could from the village grandstands back to the MX5 stand in panic as we had left the roof down, you can imagine our relief and delight when we got there to find that the roof had been put up and our little baby was lovely and dry! .... Just shows what a great club the MX5 OC is and how nice everyone is!!
I have lots of pics but am off to play in the sun for two weeks so will load them when I return
