Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
hbbel:
Unfortunatley I didn't get to go saturday but I did go on Friday! and had a fantastic time! .... BIG BIG thank you to everyone who was on the MX5 OC stand (sorry i do not know your names) not only for organising what I think was def the best stand there but also for making my friend and i feel very welcome and a HUGE thank you for putting my roof up when the heavens opened! ... As soon as the rain came down we ran as fast as we could from the village grandstands back to the MX5 stand in panic as we had left the roof down, you can imagine our relief and delight when we got there to find that the roof had been put up and our little baby was lovely and dry! .... Just shows what a great club the MX5 OC is and how nice everyone is!!
I have lots of pics but am off to play in the sun for two weeks so will load them when I return
:-)
Your welcome on the roof, I did a few that I could just before the rain hit and was there when you popped your head in to say thankyou. It was nice to meet you and I look forward to seeing your pics.
Did any rep of the OC speak to anyone about seetickets conduct to members out of interest?
Yes words were exchanged with one of the main organisers regarding the whole SeeTickets fiasco, on top of which Silverstone themselves were treated to a first hand experience of it when lots of cars turned up without stand passes and hand written ones were having to be issued.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
Glad someone spoke up for the members that never got to go. Did we get any feedback from them at all ?

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
A few videos from the track on Sunday, apologies but we had to behave ourselves and keep the speed sensible - as well as rather a lot of traffic in front of us.
You'll need to follow from pt1 through to pt5 - I kept the videos short for upload and download speed.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
hi all
I enjoyed Silverstone very much it was an excellent weekend, thanks to all that made the stand look great.
I to have had problem's with sees ticket for the last 3 years and it about time the masses did something about these rip of merchants
Silverstone Classic are sending out surveys by email to fill in, it is an ideal opportunity to put our points over to them about sees tickets.
i had no other complaints about the week end & gave them good feed back on most of their questions. but gave them both barrels

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
Amazing isn't it Many of you seem to have had a problem with SEE Tickets but my experience was completely the opposite.
Everything was spot on ! The order went through with no problems ,the tickets arrived with a week and a half to go to the event and everything about them was fine, the registration number was printed correctly and the information given was easy to understand.
As for Silverstone and the on-site marshalls/security people/direction pointers whatever you want to call them, again, they couldn't have been morte helpful. We went to the wrong gate having sneaked up to Silverstone via the back doubles from Bicester and the staff manning the gate were polite and immediately pointed us in the right direction. At the correct gate we were rpomptly pointed straigh to the MX-5 pitch and the day just got better from there on too.
While I'm at it, thanks to the super people that manned the slopes of the Alps all weekend and put up with us nutty MX-5'ers all day, especially when I wanted to buy a cap after everything had been packed away in boxes for the off !
A stirling effort. The parking was spot on, not a car out of place. Without you all we wouldn't have a club like this. I'd like to have helped clear up by my poor old back won't let me anymore - sob, sob (even though I can still climb in & out of the Eunos ! ) My pal Andy enjoyed it so much he's on the verge of buying a nice blue MK II
See you all at Billing, unless the Wife has booked us out on a holiday in the sun. It's a tough life.

What a wonderful day we had on Sunday at a very sunny Silverstone. Congratulations on the Club Stand which was very well run.
Check out this link to Sports Car Digest for last week where there are about 700 superb quality professional photographs of the amazing racing.
Cheers John

I'm not a happy bunny.
Rather than changing rules on silly signitures.
No OC rep has answered my questions regarding the conduct of seetickets & feedback from Silverstone. I know that someone from the OC spoke to some one at the event as mentioned in this thread. But to be totaly honest instead of all the internal bickering & childishness i wish someone would have a bit of backbone & sort things out. Now this event has been & gone it seams i feel let down by the OC after no contact regarding this & seriously thinking of moving on.

I think you are being unfair on the club here, they did a fantastic job of the stand and it has already been mentioned that they've complained about SeeTickets.
I've just filled in the Survey an had a right go about SeeTickets - I suggest you do the same

Im sure they did a fantastic job as always. Just asking for some feedback instead of just being left cold.
Thankyou for putting whatever you have on the survey. I did the same. This is not intended to get anyones back up so please respect the way i feel.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
First of all, we could only attend on the Friday but had a great day none the less. Many thanks to the OC reps for organising the event and for setting up such an impressive stand of MX5s - definitely the best car club display on the circuit!
Like DeePee I had absolutely no problem with See Tickets - everything arrived just as it should a couple of weeks prior to the Friday. We did place our order early, March if I recall correctly, but didn't expect the tickets until the "last minute". We've bought tickets for numerous events through See Tickets and the other major ticketing agencies and tickets often arrive during the last couple of weeks before the event. Maybe we've just been very lucky, but to date we've not been let down at any time.
I understand that at this event it appears that quite a number of members had some form of ticketing problem, and that should be taken up with the organisers at Silverstone as they choose the company who'll handle the ticketing operation on their behalf. Like most major event organisers these days, Silverstone clearly don't want the hassle of running the ticketing operation themselves, but they are still responsible for it, so I guess that they must be the contact point for any complaints. The Silverstone Survey is all well and good, and members should feed back individual experiences using that, but perhaps the OC needs to go back to Silverstone with a collation of all the member complaints (from this forum) about See Tickets so that they can see the the OC, as a major Car Club contributor to the Classic weekend, has concerns about this aspect? Just a thought.
(P.S. Anyone know why I can't change my font family and size to something readable?!!!)

Dave, Well done for some constructive coments without any finger pointing. As mentioned i'm not having a pop at any one person. But feel very strongly about this . I believe that if i dont speak out it will just go on & on then nothing will change. I am sorry to everyone if i came on a bit strong but from where i am standing it just made me feel very angry.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
Harco:
Sorry, I have been offsite for a couple of days, Whilst not being an official OC rep, I was on the Events team that set up and maintained the stand for the weekend and can report that I was present when an informal chat was had with a representative of the Classic, and it was mentioned that many members had been frustrated by Seetickets yet again. Whilst the representative took on board what was mentioned, it was the Thursday night just before the start of the whole event and as you can appreciate it was a little hectic and he was somewhat busy with organising things etc to be expected to come up with any real feedback other than the fact that he had been made aware of issues. As I said, Silverstone themselves have been treated to the after eeffects of the See (no) tickets fiasco when many display cars turned up without the required car passes and hand written ones were being rushed out to an ever extending queue of cars, so I am sure the whole issue will be discussed at the "post mortem"
Many thanks. Lets hope this gets sorted in some way so we can look forward to the future.

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
Flea,
I'm more than happy to have a chat with Peter J (National Events Co-ord) and see if we, as a committee can formally approach Silverstone with our 'concerns' about how the event was managed. I know how much this event means to him (he puts huge personal time, energy and expense into giving members the best event and stand he can, and the trophies speak for themselves).
Sadly Louise and I couldn't be there this year but I would be furious with the situation you and other OC members seem to have witnessed.
To be fair to both us as a Club and Silverstone, from what I've read on here and other car-based web forums, we were not the only Club who found issues with this 3rd party company.
Let me know what you think mate
MX-5 Owner's Club Motorsport Co-ordinator / Mission Motorsport Development Manager: jon dot earp at mx5oc.co.uk '95 Mk 1 1800cc, plus a few minor, subtle changes... The only one at the Blyton weekend who didn't break a record!

Re: Amazing Saturday & Friday!
I know from all the events that i have been to since joining the OC that all the representatives of the club work very hard & give so much of there time. All the members i speak to feel the same & it is very much appreciated.
I am not cross with anyone from this club now. I would be lying if i didn’t say i was not at first when no one answered my question. But that has passed especially after your post. Thank you.
It is the conduct of the company selling tickets on behalf of Silverstone. I feel very strongly about this & believe that if no one stands up for what they think is right then nothing will change. I trust the club in putting something forward & do understand the legality that needs to be taken in to consideration when doing so. I am happy to leave this with you & look forward to hearing what is decided to be done.
Thankyou once again
