Found some great little roads around Grasmere and Coniston whilst in the lake district, but was still learning the capeabilities of the car as we had only had her for 5 days.  Looking forward to going to the spring rally to sample the cornish roads in a proper car.

Alot of the roads around the Ring are excellent , in fact as soon as you leave Belguim and start driving into Germany heading towards the Ring you encouter excellent roads with superb views and perfect surfaces (unlike alot of roads over here) and not a great deal of traffic to ruin your fun.

Re: MX-5 OC Driving Roads Map

Can I also suggest in France

the Route Napoleon fron Grasse to Grenoble. Likely to be a bit busy but a nice alternative to the Autoroute

Also the Gorge de Verdun (not sure of my spelling there

And if you get the change to go to South Africa - Chapmans Peak Drive west of Capetown at sunset (costs about £2 in tol). The best views ever but sadly I was in a Hyundai ix35 4x4 rather than a 5.

It's on the Wales map, Llanidloes to Machynlleth. But I thought I'd illustrate a bit of it !

Is that on the more direct route that goes past Llyn Clywedog? I think I need to pay that road a visit - looks stunning.

    Hi Gareth,

It's after Clywedog, (going North from Llanidloes) and that bit's pretty good!  There's a left turn signposted Machynlleth after Clywedog, that's when the really good bit starts !

Shame that, so far, I've only used work cars on it, our MX has yet to make the trip !

Just to add to Paul H's Oxon & Wilts loop - given you end up in Burford, go out the bottom of Burford on the A361 through Fulbrook, then turn right to Charlbury on the B4437. Absolutely fantastic 7-10mins worth of wriggles, reverse-cambers and bends, brilliant fun! Turn around in Charlbury, repeat and then back down the A361 into Burford and head for home. Should add about 30mins onto your loop, but great fun!

Also B4077 from Stow-On-The-Wold to Tewkesbury, gorgeous road dropping off of the Cotswold hills.

    Enjoy everyone!

    Hi VO5Jo,

is Copper Red a metallic orange? If so think I may have just seen the Owl in Northleach!

Re: MX-5 OC Driving Roads Map

Just did this run today (twice) and had a great time. The run from Helmsley to Stokesley on the B1257 was particularly good fun while the back road from the A171 through Castleton and Hetton-Le-Hole was also bloody marvelous however care had to be taken on that particular road as I didn't want a sheep shaped indentation on the front of my 5 (plus it was a bit wet). I will be doing this run again in a couple of weeks or so, work is going to prevent an earlier return, and so will try and take pictures next time.
