    shoestring:

    Good grief Chaps,

We have English on the thread, I don't suppose there is anyone who doesn't know but the esteamed gent is one of the founders of the "Old Gits Club". Now if this chap says wave then it is almost written in stone. The change of avatar had me going a bit as I'm sure he used to have the Union Flag, Not the Union Jack as according to Stephen Fry it can only really be called that if it's flown of the mast of a ship.

Welcome aboard English it's an honour sir.

    Waving

Well after haveing the union flag for few years i  thaught it was about time i had a change of avatar i am not sure about the presant avatar that i have put up as the two paraglidsers in the foreground spoil the coastal view but they  did land ok with no injuries.

But please keep the wave up

    Waving

Upon picking up my newly acquired 5 both my son and myself waved at a fellow 5.....we didn't get a wave back so we didn't try again!  On taking my sister out for a test drive she also waved at another 5 who didn't respond.......my sister is a big mini fan and states that all minis wave at each other!  C'mon mx5 owners don't let us be outdone by minis!!!

Re: To wave or not to wave that is the question

It would seem just about everyone on  this thread is having more sucess than me, I stay true to the MX5 wave but alas all goes invane as waves back are few and far between. Then again it may be the sight of someone driving along with the roof down when the frost is barely cleared off the windscreen. Wife thinks I'm mad and it may be others do to. Good Job

Mad..........if you are then so am IRolling eyes, school use me as a weather guide.........'it must be really cold/raining, Liz has got here roof up'.Love the choice/chance to drop the roof. When hubby gets in the car his words are ' suppose you want the roof down'. Do get waves from regular drivers (think they're use to me nowWink) Got use to giving more waves than getting in return but won't stop, I'm rather amused when I see expressions on their face & wonder how their day is.

Re: To wave or not to wave that is the question

At about 8 this morning (saturday) I was on my way to work, just going to turn right after the bridge at Hexham and had to wait for a car coming the in the other direction to pass first, It was a silver MK 2.5 with a hard top fitted, now I was stationary only the 2 cars to be seen so I started my wave, it was a bit damp so I had the roof up not that it was raining at the time but I like my hood to dry a bit before I put it down. My wave was clear and her (the driver of the other car) couldn't have really missed this justure of good will but alas it went without response Cry, she (with highlighted blonde bits in her hair) never even looked. I mean thats the first thing I do when I see another 5. Maybe she was too old to see, if so she should have had her glasses on. Thing is a fear at being that furstrated at these non-wavers that when a genuine 5er comes along I might get myself too cheesed off to wave. We must be strong fellow wavers and not let ourselves fall into the trap mediocrity and become non-wavers Protest

wish there was a spell checker on the forum for posts, even the F7 thing doesn't work Violin wish I'd listen more at school, maths was always more my thing.

Re: To wave or not to wave that is the question

Well top this. On the SWM drive today we had to waight for a group of about 7 TVR's to come through past some parked cars. We had waves from all of them. Other members, who did not have to stop got waves as well.   I see a large number of 5's where I live and very few wave, so maybe it is only members of the OC that wave.  Waving

Re: To wave or not to wave that is the question

Just returned from my son's house. On the way I have to make a right turn out of side road onto main road. Quite often trafic going right from the main road cuts the corner, sure enough theres a car doing exactly that so I brake & don't go to my position for risk of loosing my drivers corner.

I did wave (as a polite sarcastic gesture) to driver who completely blanked me, but his passenger waved backDon't know Think I need to improve my sarcastic waveThinking

Re: To wave or not to wave that is the question

Liz you must tell us more about your sarcastic wave and try and explain it to us as it's not a tool Ive got in my tollbox yet. Must admit if someone cuts me up I tend to say "bless their cottons" My wife asked me why and I said you've got to feel sorry for someone who clearly hasn't got the sense to drive properly in the first place, it actually goes back further than that about 15 years ago I was travelling to work, I was in town then a car coming the other way stopped to pick someone up (probably a work colleague) this encited the driver behind him who started blasting his horn and who waited for the car in front of me to go through but as I was travelling through he decided he would have to pull out and pass. I had to stop but his guy then stops level with the first car leans across and gesticulates to the driver of the car that stopped to pick up his mate sticking his fingers up at his and moving his hand with an open fist up and down, he was shouting at the time and I didn't have to be a lip reader to determine whet he was shouting to this other chap. then he took off at high revs leaving a bit rubber on the road, I looked across at the bloke that had stopped for his mate and shrugged my shoulders and he did the same. I just thought if you can allow yourself to get that excited at 06:30 in the morning then what is the rest of your day going to like. I vowed on that day that no matter how annoyed I may get with someone else on the road I was not and would not act in any way like this mindless idiot on this morning, so hence "bless their cottons". Ive got to be careful with my blood pressure anyway!
