    English and Mal

Ive had some similar experiences, negative responses form MX5 drivers while TVR and MG (even a TR4) drivers tend to wave and sometimes catching me off guard and I don't get my wave deployed in time. Quite frankley not quite sure what the answer is. Maybe if you are passionate about your car you are more likey to wave, if you feel it's just a mode of transport (although a very nice mode of transport) you are less likely to be a waver. I do agree that when concentrating on supplting a wave to every MX5 that comes along, some other clubs (TVR, MG and Triumph) make me feel it's more of an open/soft top curtousy. The MX5 marque has been very sucessful and this means they are popular and many fold and this may be the answer if they were a rarer breed then the fewer owner may show more of a clanship. What ever way it is I shall still try and encourage and use the wave to fellow MX% and open/soft top drivers

persevere my old son !.....one morning last week, whilst on my way home from work, 6.45am ish, cold, damp, dark,  (therefore roofs up),  i pulled level with a mk2 just as i was leaving the motorway and decided to chance my arm and give a wave...the response from the bearded gent driving it was THE biggest grin and a return wave..admittedly this type of response are few and far between, but when you do get one it more than makes up for the times you don't.....keeeeeeep waving Waving WavingWaving

tell us more about your sarcastic wave

Well its like this................I'm still perfecting it......

Being the well behaved lady that IamThinking  gesticulating is something I shouldn't take part in.... so.... I'm trying other ways of letting those 'drivers' know I'm happy with the design of the '5' & don't wish them to re-design it.

I've tried the 'glare'... that earnt me a 'v' from male driver.....Signing in BSL (British Sign Language) 'Im seeing you' is no good as a majority of the public don't know BSL. So I'm trying a (sarcastic) wave, Sundays version was obviously too friendly, maybe I'll try something more Regal as befitting my name, failing that maybe a long blast on the horn may lower my blood pressure.

It seems to be worse when I'm driving roof down, I seem to become invisible (as if they couldn't see me),  ...............or am I taking it the wrong way & they are in fact trying to be friendlyDon't know

Either way I will remember ......I'm a lady & not revert to bad language or gesticulation (yet)not tagged smiley #12844

I think we could all benefit from a demonstration of this sarcastic wave, I'm having difficulty in imagining the movements, is this wave a cross gender thing or is it something only a bossy lady could hope of getting away with Don't know
