MX-5 OC Forum

 Hello everyone! We've just joined so forgive me for not knowing if the club or our region have a section at Autokarna. We last went there 5 years ago with an MGB but cannot remember if there was an MX5 section. We saw them all at Shugborough a few months back, huge turnout, and wondered if there we any plans for Wollaton and how we would enter. Sorry if this is all a bit basic, we've only been to Transtar events with a classic before. Thanks, Rich.

 Can't answer your question but I will be going to this next year - couple of mates have said its worth the trip.

 Its not something our region has attended, at least in recent years. I will do a bit of research before our meeting next Wednesday (see 2011 Events thread).

Its run by/with the Austin 7 owner's club so tends to be more towards the vintage but could be well worth seeing if we could go as a club.  there's usually an autojumble with various other charity stalls etc.

For anyone not familiar the setting is lovely and well worth a visit for the Hall, grounds, and museums. There is easy parking and a nice walk around the lake.

We go most years and last took an MGB to show about 5 years ago. It is run by the Austin Severn Club who take one side of the arena banked in front of the hall for their national rally. There are many classic cars, motorcycles, and commercials on the other side, along with an Auto jumble and the Nottingham Motor Show in adjoining fields where modern car dealers have exhibitions. There are general categories for classics by date and some club sections for Triumph, MG and Subaru that I remember. Certainly a wide cross section of cars which would suit an MX5 section well.

I've been in touch with Nigel Hancock http://www.pwa7c.co.uk/contact.htm?to=nh&name=Nigel%20Hancock&task=Minutes%20Secretary the organiser to see if any existing or owners club sections are available for MX5s. He says it's still early days and he'll be in touch in the New Year. I'm happy to pass on any info when received on the bb here or for Karen or Richard to do any organising if they prefer.

This is a must attend car event. Absolutely fabulous.  Been 2 years running with my other car club and it is worth the trip. Lots to do and brill vehicles on display. We shall be there for 2012.

 Woolaton Park is gorgeous, I went there at the beginning of the year to take some photos of the house and the deer in the park.
