But use it at your peril! It'll get you into the rough area but please use the directions above in the OP and follow the round orange signs marked MX5 once you get close.

Re: MX-5 Owners Club 'Blyton Bash' - ESSENTIALS
Hi,
We are planning to get there for the GWR attempt, what time do you want us there? And do I need to sort anything insurance wise for taking our Sport Red onto the track?

Re: MX-5 Owners Club 'Blyton Bash' - ESSENTIALS
Hiya,
The Guinness World Record attempt briefing will be held in the marquee at 11.30 on Sunday morning.
Anyone attending the briefing for the Sunday trackday will also be briefed about the GWR attempt so that we don't have to spoil their fun on track.
The record attempt will be completed at ~ 15mph, in 2nd gear and very much under control but my understanding is that the track is not a public road so many insurance companies will not recognise an incident as being covered. The GWR rules state that all participating cars must complete 2 miles (about one and a bit laps) with no significant 'gaps' (ie more than two cars' lengths between each car) so we have chosen to keep the speed to an absolute minimum in order to minimise risk to participants whilst maximising the chances of securing the record.

Really starting to look forward to the Bash!
What are people doing about insuring their cars for the track event on the Saturday? If taking out cover, can anyone recommend a good insurer?

Hi,
i insure my car with REIS and get 4 free trackdays cover. I have also insured with them for just 1 day on track, may be worthwhile giving them a call.

Re: MX-5 Owners Club 'Blyton Bash' - ESSENTIALS
My experience of REIS has been that the 4 trackdays were not included in cover and they wanted an extra premium for that.

peleton72:
Got four with my policy, you just have to pre-warn them of the trackday operator (they have a recommended list of providers and MoT are one of them) and the date/venue to get the cover.
That wasn't my experience, they definitely wanted more money off me.

That's a shame...maybe the recession is biting?

Could be. Or perhaps I just spoke to the 'wrong' person in their office.
