Well I've tooted, waved and flashed (the lights!) at a fair few mx5s  and got absolutely nout in return. Ah well il keep trying!

Keep on trying! I tooted and waved at 3 MX-5's today and not even a sideways glance in return. They were all MK3's though. I'm not at all 'Markist' don't get me wrong but I think that some people that buy the newer cars are more unaware of the '5 etiquette?!

Yeah I've pretty much given up on mk 3's. I've got the twin pipes like a few members on here and the bonnet number plate but nothing else. Not chavified!

to re-iterate,.... if the owner of mk3 does not wave it is usually due to lack of education
if another mk (esp 1s)'s owner does not that that tends to be due to attitude when they should-know-better

I've had a Mk1 and now own a Mk3..... I've found that it makes no difference what mark 'm driving, I wave at them all... (and sometimes at porches by mistake.. who actually wave back, and then pretend to scratch their head?)  some wave, some don't, quite frankly I don't care if they don't reply, but I carry on with a smug sense of satisfaction in knowing that somewhere not far away there is a confused 5 driver wondering who the hell the bad blonde bird with the big grin on her face was...........

You are lucky to see any.  I am a relatively new Mk 3 owner having been a non member owner of a Mk1 for 7 yrs. But since I bought my Mk 3 at the end of November where are all the MX5's? The last one I saw whilst driving (I use my car as my everyday car) was in Tesco's car park on Christmas Eve - yes I did wave. I did see one last Friday but as I was on foot at the time a wave wouldn't really have made an impression. Where is everyone from the west going into Southampton and back at night? Have they put them to bed for the winter?

We have learnt how to drive with one hand while keeping the roadster under control, so it is never an issue north bound

Some have learnt to do it here while still eating their pie

If they dont wave back ,see it as their lose

I had been waving at MX's of all ages (mk1, mk2 and mk3) without a single response until I popped up in Devon.

4 out of 5 drivers have waved back :)   Are they all members or just more friendly down there?
