Papermill Lock Canal Cruise and Buffet - Sunday 5th August

                                                            Booking is now closed folks.

Any further names will have to go on to a "reserves" list if anyone drops out

Further to the e-mail sent to all North Thames members, the Papermill Lock cruise is now booked for Sunday, 5th August, 6pm – 8pm.  There will be an afternoon drive followed by the cruise with buffet.  Full details of the drive to follow later.

There are 3 buffets on offer, fish, meat or Victoria. A minimum of 10 buffets per type is required.

The cost of the Barge will be dependant on the numbers going. So, for instance for 30 people it's £9.50 per head, and 40 people is £7.13

    The BUFFETS, per head are....
     - The 'Victoria' Variety - A delicious and satisfying selection of freshly made savoury sandwiches and bridge rolls, chicken drumsticks, Scotch eggs, pork pies, quiches and mini sausages, served with
a choice of salads and French bread and butter at £9.95

    - The Famous Fish Buffet - Platters of smoked mackerel, peeled prawns crab sticks, smoked trout, mixed seafood selection and rollmop herrings, served with seafood sauce, seasonal salads and French
    bread and butter. £10.50

    - The Mighty Meat Buffet - A splendid selection of carved home-cured ham, prime beef and farm turkey, with pickles, seasonal salads and French bread and butter. £10.95
    Veggie options are also available.

To keep it simple, Dave Hillier needs £10.00 per person for the deposit to cover the boat hire. This is payable once your booking is confirmed. Final payment of the balance including buffet choice has to be paid
a minimum of 3 weeks before the day.

Note, we are limited to 40 people so please e-mail Dave here soon to confirm your place. Don't delay, places are going fast.

Once you have booked Dave will e-mail you to confirm your place and give you his address so that you can send him your deposit.

Re: Papermill Lock Canal Cruise and Buffet - Sunday 5th August

A drive out to the north Essex village of Finchingfield is being planned for the afternoon before the boat trip in the evening for any who want to come along.

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=finchingfield&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Wjc0T7X4NsrU8gP6qM2wAg&sqi=2&ved=0CEcQsAQ&biw=1404&bih=810

The plan is to meet up at the Boreham Services on the A12 then drive through the lanes to Finchingfield, (about 50 - 60 mins drive).  We would then spend an hour there before returning to Papermill Lock for the boat trip.  There is a nice village green with a good pub and cafe, (popular with drivers and motorbike groups).  A small pond and bridge.  Old thatched cottages and an old windmill which is open to the public.

Details of the route will be sent out in due course.

You can of course go directly to Papermill Lock if you wish.

If the World didn't suck, we'd all fall off!

    Love Finchingfield

    Finchingfield.jpg

Loads of tea rooms for a nice cream tea and good memories of one of my first OC runs on the Eastern Region Essex Boys Run (remember that one Les!) with loads of 5's parading throught the village.

Count us in for the run please Dave!

We saw so many villages on that run, but at 80mph they all looked the same.

    Well done Dave!

Lovely day and weather just about held off.

Not sure if the argument was settled with Brenda; is this a scone or a scone? Don't know

Mind you, does it matter as they were lovely!
