    Rossi:

as I find mine obscures the dials a bit.

    Thanks

    Mine is here......

It does pivot on a ball socket so can be moved.

As you can see it doesn't block the dials as there is nothing on the dial behind the microphone anyway.

Does your phone text's come up on the screen? It has been asked before and only older phone models such as my old Motorola Razar worked. Now it is greyed out.

Anyone with a new phone which works with the SMS on screen and read out version. I've heard Blackberry with OS 7.1 may work.

Thanks for that, mine is very similar to yours just a bit more over to the left.

I haven't managed to try all the functions yet but I have an Iphone 4S so i'll see if I can get it to work and let you know.

    MX5 Montana:
Obviously with the Usb stick it doesn't either

I have album artwork from my usb stick, not tried an ipod as I dont have one and find the usb stick is good so not going to get one just for this.  Main issue with USB is taht it plays songs in alphabetical order not album order.  I solved that by using mp3tag to put the track number into the track name!

    steveal:
The problem is that the Ipod isn't recognised when I re-start the engine.

My first usb stick (which was an 8GB) did that, tried a different one, (which happens to be 4GB) and no problems. No idea whether it was a specific stick issue or a size thing.

Can people let me know where their microphones are mounted as I find mine obscures the dials a bit.

Mine is exactly the same as in MX5 Montana's photo but I dont think the dealer mounts it, the whole unit is too integrated into the dashboard.  I am sure it is installed in the factory.

Are any of you planning to go to the Blyton Bash? Be good to park together and compare.......

Mine is exactly the same as the photo, to the left of centre and does not obstruct dials.

compatible phones for text etc can be found at www.tomtom.com/phones/compatibility  I did a quick check just now and my BB certainly does not enable the text feature

Not great at playing MP3 CDs so have just bought a USB Flash Drive - wish me luck!!

    Cheers

I hope we can get some concensus about the best music playing system - Ipod? USB drive? CD with MP3s? old 78s?

    Please keep the group informed.

Re: Sanyo Mazda NVA-SD8110 EU LIVE Mk3/3.5 Sat Nav - anyone got one?

Now this might seem a question with an obvious answer but I have only had chance to "play" with this system for 45 minutes or so and my new Venture is sitting in the garage so I cannot go and have a proper look but ....... what button or button pushes are needed to shut off the radio/CD/ whatever audio is playing when you just want the TomTom lady (or man) to occupy your ears? Can I have just the SatNav audio switched on and not the music system and if so, how?

    Thank you,

    Alan

Edit: Think I may have found it in the manual which I downloaded via the link shown earlier in this thread: "To turn off the audio, touch the on-screen button." - Would have been nice to have a hardware button which is immediately accessible I suppose rather than having to furtle around the touch screen to find it ...... but then again, that might just be my age!

Theres an AV off on the audio select screen (press SRC button) - which I think does exactly that.

    Thank you.

What documentation should the dealer supply for this system? I got a "Quick Guide" consisting of a thick white A5 size booklet - 6 languages, including English, 40 pages for each. I have found the "What Can I Say?" section on the device but not seen the voice commands in print anywhere - neither in my quick guide nor the full manual downloaded via the link shown in this thread. I think that I would find this list useful to browse through on my computer or on paper - far easier than working my way through it whilst sitting in the car on my drive!

With regard to the unit reading out text messages, the bluetooth profile we need is profile MAP (Message Access Profile).

This is the only phone I can currently find, but I am sure there are more.

Blackberry Curve 9320 (look under the Bluetooth list)

Oh and it's on iphone soon when iO6 comes out.

I've downloaded MP3Tag, but it looks like all of my files already have <track number> <space> <trackname> format, but the tracks are still being played in alphabetic order.  How did you manage to get the content out in track order?

I used MP3tag to convert the tag TITLE to contain track number and title.

To do that I selected convert, tag to tag, and in the pop up select TITLE and %track% %title%, hit OK.  That put track number into the title, so track number is displayed on the screen with the title whilst playing. The alphabetical order is now applied to the track number because its at the start.  It works on mine anyway.

This has my (ex) coding monkey brain thinking now.  I'll play around with some ideas and then report back here.  For what its worth I'll also try to raise this with TomTom to see what they have to say (but I'm not holding my breath).....

Re: Sanyo Mazda NVA-SD8110 EU LIVE Mk3/3.5 Sat Nav - anyone got one?

First major use of the sat nav on Friday, ETA from Cardiff to London was 1916, then with live traffic updates of M25 delays of 50 mins expected there so rerouted via Slough and ETA grew to 1929.  Would have made it except for red lights (arrived 1931!) - Point is I would have never been aware of the impact of the traffic hold up or an alternative route - so may well have been delayed to past 2000. One point in favour of renewing the live services when it expires end of August!

USB gets my vote (some reason not playing burned MP3 CD's at all) - it also gives me a useful light in the glovebox! (TDK 8gb memory stick works fine)

Re: Sanyo Mazda NVA-SD8110 EU LIVE Mk3/3.5 Sat Nav - anyone got one?

MP3Tag (mp3tag.de/en) worked a treat. The problem appears to lie in the fact that the Sanyo unit is displaying tracks based upon the TITLE tag in the MP3 files – which contains the track title but not the track numbering (there is a separate TRACK field that the unit appears to be ignoring!). So, to get the MP3 tracks displayed in track order rather than alphabetic order, we need to use MP3Tag to put the track number information onto the front of the TITLE field..

    Working from tcs17_tim post, here's what I did -

    • WARNING – if in any doubt, make a backup by copying contents of your USB stick to a location on your machine in case there is a problem!

    • Plug your USB stick into your pc / laptop

    • Open the MP3Tag application

    • Menu option File > Change Directory

    • Navigate to the root of your USB drive (in my case KINGSTON(F:))

    • Every track on the USB stick should load into the main pane of MP3Tag

    • Control + A to select all tracks

    • Menu option Convert > Tag-tag

    • First box (Field) should be set to TITLE

    • Second box (Format string) – get rid of anything that is already in there

    • Click on the triangle on the end of the Format string field and select TRACK

    • This should then be populated within the Format string as %track%

    • Add a single space to the Format string after %track%

    • Then add TITLE to the Format string by using the triangle again (%title% should then be visible in the Format string, after %track%)

    • Click on OK to apply the changes

    • The update may take a while (I did 1,400 tracks, which took about 10 mins)

    • Close the application and don't forget to eject your USB stick before removing it from your machine

    • Plug into your car and test!

I've written this after the event (whilst watching footie), so it would be good if a fellow Venture owner could validate the instructions..
