 Hi ,

The corner pieces of my NA oem mazda boot luggage rack need re-chroming or replacing. The chrome is coming off & they looklike grey plastic

underneath. Can I get new corners only ? or can they be re-chromed ?

They are really letting down what is a nearly pristine car.

Same problem with mine, and most others I've seen.  I peeled off all the chrome, fine sanded and spray painted satin black.  Did a nice job; not chrome of course, but don't look out of place.  This is best photo I could manage for now, but can take a close up if you want a better idea of look and finish that can be achieved.  Ray

That looks like the answer , you have done a very good job, and you are right the satin black looks fine.

Bernie, the chrome peeled off quite easily where it was starting to come away, but in other places it was a bit more stubborn and needed a blade under the edge of it to prise it away, but need to be careful not to scrape or leave indentations in the plastic if you want nice smooth finish.  I think they look like they could be a factory finish, better than I expected really.  Good luck with yours.

Hi ive been looking for this type of rack for my mx5, would anyone know where i can get one, who makes it would help, i dont mind a secondhand as long as its good condition , whats the cost of a new one?
