CNW at Eventcity Classic indoor show

    EVENTCITY March 24/25th 2012

Weekend of the 24/25th March Cheshire & North Wales Area was invited to represent the OC at the Eventcity Classic Indoor Show by Cheshire Auto Promotions.

This is the second year of this indoor event and this year they had extra capacity in two halls. Situated on the same site as the Trafford Centre, it is an ideal location as there is an excellent motorway network and FREE parking with an entrance fee of ten pounds, or seven pounds with a widely available fliers voucher.

Just over eighty car clubs were in attendance over the weekend with some of the finest examples of the likes you would only see at the NEC Classic.

We, as an area, self-funded this stand. We organised blue carpet to be laid, perimeter fencing and chain link acquired and even manufactured our own under wheel stands for the OC sail flags.

As you can see from the pictures, we didn't do too badly. The quality of the four cars on display was exemplary, and all our efforts were not in vain as Ian McHattie (aka Speedy) walked away with a 1st in the Japanese Classic class with the stand winning a "Club Stand Highly Commended star award".

The attendance was good over the weekend considering we were having some crazy hot weather. The interest from the public was excellent and many had shown an interest in joining the club.

Next year, hopefully with support from the OC events committee we can attain a higher standard and maybe get in the top three for club stand award.

What a great weekend, what a great show, what a great stand, what great cars, many thanks to Paul, Syd our hard working joint AC's who work relentlesly behind the scenes to give us great presence at the show.

What an opportunity missed by the Owners Club to shout out the message "we are THE best club" and deserving "Club of the Year" award.
