    Self inflicted electrical problem

Done a bit of a boo-boo...went to take out my OEM head unit after work and was struggling with the removal tools a bit, so gave up after half an hour...I hadn't disconnected the battery as I hadn't got as far as unplugging anything.

I went to lock car after messing about and my remote fob has stopped working completely, also when I started the car the check engine light is now on...what have I managed to break in messing about with the HU?

The car still starts and runs, and headlights are OK....heaters seem to be working. Pretty annoyed with myself, any ideas?

Turn the ignition off and then just pull that fuse out to check. Pair of small nose pliers can help.

It's about the sum total of my knowledge - but I did a very similar thing myself. You can get spare fuses at Halfrauds etc.

right, room fuse has blown, so mustve shorted something with the HU removal tool?

Is it safe to drive the car without it? just need to get a couple miles down road to halfords

    Re: Self inflicted electrical problem

I think it's fine to drive it. I certainly did.

petrol station on the corner came up trumps, got a pack of fuses and its all sorted...bar the bloody OEM headunit still being firmly in place.

Before my next bout with it i'll disconnect the battery first, cheers for the help :)
