    LED replacement bulb issues (mk2.5)

    I bought the following set of LED bulbs but they don't work properly and I wanted to ask if anyone has replaced LED bulbs successfully...?

    Stop/Tail lamps

    These will only light the 'tail' part of the bulb, it doesn't get any brighter when the brake pedal is pressed.

    High level brake lamp

    This doesn't work at all.  I suspect the polarity is reversed but I'm not chopping the wires & reversing them!

    Before I return them for refund, has anyone seen this and might offer advice?

     Before sending them back remove the bulbs and short test them across a battery, you may have the stop/tail bulbs fitted the wrong way round as for the brake lamp i would suspect as you do wrong polarity.

    I should have mentioned that if I fit the stop / tail lamps the other way around they don't light up at all.

    Check the "bulbs" have 4 wires if they don't you have supplied tail lights and not the stop/tail light. Compare to original bulb.

    If it's broken, repair and improve it. If it's not broken, just improve it.

    Yep they have all the wires.  As you can see from the first link I posted the diagram shows this;

    Anyway I've returned them for refund.

    As it happens I'm trying to fit some from Auto Bulbs direct and on inspection they will not work as Mazda wire the socket in a non standard way. I'm going to modifiy my bulbs to work but that involves cutting the bulb open.

    If it's broken, repair and improve it. If it's not broken, just improve it.

    Re: LED replacement bulb issues (mk2.5)

    Brought a pair of T20 stop tail lights and found they blew the corresponding dash fuse when I tried them. As Drew pointed out Mazda use a non standard wired socket, what is called a CK type socket. I found this post on the web which I hope will be of help

    Re: LED replacement bulb issues (mk2.5)

    I've just had my second set of sidelight bulbs, both sets were faulty.
    One of the LED's on the first bulbs actually fell off into the light housing, I had to use a magnetic probe to get it out.
    The second set had a fault with both LED's again, this time I took pictures and video of them;
