And now for something we haven't done before (at least as long as we've been members of the club) ....

A fellow OC member suggested that for one of our outings we might like to visit the Awbridge (near Romsey) Fete and Car/Bike Show. Last year this attracted over 150 vehicles, and they would welcome an MX5 presence this year in an attempt to reach their target of 200.

So for the Solent Area's May event we are going to support the Car Show on Saturday May 12th, so please come along and show off your MX5! Cars are asked to arrive on the field by 12 midday. The fete opens at 1pm and will close at 6pm; cars are able to leave before the end if you need to get away. As an extra temptation you will get a voucher for a free burger or drink or cake as a "thank-you" for supporting the
event when you bring your car.

The Fete will be held in the Awbridge village hall field, postcode SO51 0HG.

If you would like to meet up beforehand so that our MX5's arrive together, then our provisional plan is that we'll be in the overflow car park at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey at 11:15 and will depart for the fete at 11:30. The address for the Hillier Gardens is Jermyns Lane, Romsey SO51 0QA. The overflow car park is first on the left once you've turned into the main entrance for the Gardens.
I say provisional plan, as we want to check out next Sat how busy that car park gets at that time of day. If it's too busy we may need to change our plan, so please watch this space!

It would be helpful if you could reply to this post if you intend to come along, so we have an idea of the number of MX5's expected.

just wondered if its possible to turn up if your not a member so i can see if its something i might enjoy then i can join with confidence knowing that i am not going to waste my time and money by coming to future events

Yes, you're welcome to come along and meet/join us - the fete and car show are open to everyone anyway.

As mentioned above, we haven't participated in this event before so do not know how it will work out! If you take a look back through this forum, you'll also be able to see the other types of activities we typically arrange, and hope you might find them of interest.

It's 50/50 for me.....

Jacko (my 5) is still off the road at the moment, needing new brakes, rear springs and a good clean. Trying to get it ready for the 'Spring Rally' in pastyland..... If it's ready next week, I'll be there - need to give the rebuilt engine its first run out!

Hi "Tunnelboy" .... no problem with confirming on Thursday. Anyone can turn up on Saturday whether they've confirmed through a post here or not ... we just wanted to get some idea of the level of interest.

To everyone .... I can confirm that we will meet in the overflow car park at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey at 11:15 and will depart for the fete at 11:30, if anyone wants to meet there. Alternatively you can go straight to Awbridge, where you need to be on the field by 12pm to be part of the car show.

To repeat from my original post, the address for Hillier Gardens is Jermyns Lane, Romsey SO51 0QA. The overflow car park is second on the left once you've turned into the main entrance for the Gardens (first on the left is no entry as it's the car park exit!). That car park was pretty empty when we checked it out on Saturday, but then it wasn't a very nice day so if the sun shines it might be busier, but we'll just hope there's space for us for 15 mins or so :-)
