Blyton - Star in your own car! - Sprint.

Some of you may remember the Star in a Reasonably Priced MX-5 post from Rodders. Well I am pleased to say it is now all sorted and the first of at least 3 Blyton Sprints will be held on Saturday June 9th.

This has very much been set up in response to drivers wanting to know just how they and their car compares to others and so is very much about your car as you drive it every day. The competition is open to all cars, including your company diesel Audi; in fact there is a diesel class in which you can win a trophy as well as various petrol engine classes.

No special modifications are required; you do not need race overalls or additional safety equipment in your car. We have chosen Blyton Park Driving Centre for these events as the lack of Armco and plenty of run off make driver error unlikely to have any affect other than a poor lap time.

The format of the day is that the morning is an open pit lane track day, plenty of opportunity to practice lines, familiarise yourself with the track and layout and how your car performs. In the afternoon it will be the sprint. Cars will be released individually from a standing start to complete one run at which point the car can queue to run again. As the circuit is about 1.5 miles although cars are running individually there is adequate clearance for more than one car on track, one car starting, one midway and one finishing, so we expect cars to get at least 8 runs around the course.

Each driver’s 3 fastest runs will be averaged to give their overall time with trophies being awarded to the fastest driver in each class.

There will also be a secondary "competition" where the final run of the day will be a single timed run, all or nothing to see where you come on the Lap Time Leader Board. Bragging rights and driver excuses come as standard with this part and while we expect the the sprinting to be competitive, the overriding principal of this day and event is to have fun and a laugh.

    Classes will be:

    Normally Aspirated Petrol Car.

    Up to 1.8l

    Up to 2.5l

    Above 2.5l

    Forced Induction Petrol Car

    Up to 2.0l

    Above 2.0l

    Diesel. All Cars

    Blyton Sprint

BRILLIANT Clapping hands in the air

I was a little disappointed by some of the negative comments when this was first aired, good to see it's coming to fruition.

Go Rodders, Go Nick, Go enjoy all! Thumbs up

Good opportunity for some last-minute practice before the Blyton Bash too if anyone finds themselves at a loose end...

Re: Blyton - Star in your own car! - Sprint.

What a fantastic day we had at Blyton, a big thank you to Nick and the team for the organisation, Rodders for his great Tuition and all the others who attended and made this such a good event. For anyone who has not tried it, the sprint format was great. It's surprising how much effort you need to put in to try and get a fast lap. The guys from the Max5 racing series had their own battles. Richard the owner of Blyton had some good tips too. The Lotus was great to see .Looking forward to the Blyton Bash even More now. Well done Nick!!!!Thumbs up

    cheers

    Pete.

Thank you Pete for your kind words.

And here are the results of the Icelandic Jury

    And the shootout.

A great time was had by all with so much sprint time we had times when no one wanted to go out.
