    Motorsport at Crystal Palace 26 & 27th May 2012

    http://www.motorsportatthepalace.co.uk/

Sevenoaks & District Motor Club's sprint returns to London's Crystal Palace Park on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May 2012.

This year we are avoiding the Bank Holiday as there will be too much else on so are trying a normal weekend and running the sprint and car show on this coming Saturday & Sunday.

Here's the latest news from the organisers:

    Hi there,

With just a few days to go, we’re all set for a fabulous third Motorsport at the Palace, and we’ve got some real treats in store for this year’s visitors.

Complementing the racing action, we have Diggerland and the London Karting Company, both new to Motorsport at the Palace. We’re also pleased to welcome The Wright Event and its Barrel Train ride, which will be taking younger guests on fun-filled tours of the park.

The Classic Motorcycle Racing Club will be displaying their rare motorcycles and sidecars, and fans of Formula One are in for a treat, as we have a replica McLaren MP4-24 F1 car on display in the show area and an ultra-realistic McLaren F1 simulator on which to test your skills.

We’ll be celebrating the 50thbirthday of the much loved MGB, helped by the numerous MG car clubs in attendance. We’ll also have a host of other clubs on site too, including the Kent Capri Club, the Bexley Rover Car Club, the Lotus Cortina Register, the Imp Club, the Marcos Owners Club, and the Renault Alpine Owners Club among others. Many of the cars on display will also be competing in the Kleers Premium Car Care Products Concours ‘Show and Shine’ competition.

The Bromley Police Cadets will be helping us marshal this year, while on track, the action with be fast and furious. Among the many exciting cars this weekend, keep a look out for the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC Racing Competition car. This electric racing car uses the same high performance battery and motor as the road-going Nissan Leaf and is capable of a top speed of 150kph.

As usual, guests can stroll around the open paddock, chatting to the drivers and admiring the cars before and after they take to the track, all amid the relaxed and family-friendly environment of the beautiful Crystal Palace Park.

It’s going to be a great show, so pack your camera and join us on 26-27 May for a fantastic weekend of motorsport at Crystal Palace.

Don't forget to follow us on , Twitter and Facebook.

    Kind regards
The Motorsport at Crystal Palace team

    Andy

Well I will be attending -no surprises there thoughBig Smile (probably see you Friday Andy)

There should be a few MX5s around -mine will be on the Sevenoaks stand along with at least one other.

There are a couple entered in the sprint one of which has a supercharger fitted so that could be "interesting"

Just need to hope for good weather-please stay sunny until at least 7pm Sunday!

I'm entered on Saturday in a Radical. Am quite scared as I shall have sat in it for the first time on Friday. It's Radical's own demo car which I shall write about for a magazine or two. I think an MX-5 might have been a better baptism.

Is it your first sprint John or just the first one in the Radical?

If you need any info for the articles please feel free to come and find us in the Media centre.

Will do, thanks. I've competed in hillclimbs but not a sprint, which I guess is much the same but without the gradient...

Really looking forward to Saturday. Should be a great day and there's lots of interesting machinery entered.

Re: Motorsport at Crystal Palace 26 & 27th May 2012

I think Crystal Palace would just about qualify as a hill climb as the finish is slightly higher than the start Smile

It is very much the same, so you shouldn't have any problems unless the red mist comes down of course. The class structures are also a little different so I wouldn't worry too much about other peoples times-just go out and enjoy running on part of the oldest race circuit in the country.

Hope to see you on Saturday.

Well its all up and ready for tomorrow and I even managed to wash the MX5 when I got back which is going on the club stand. All I have to do now is check cameras over and make sure batteries (and back ups ) are charged.

I noticed you and the Radical are pictured and mentioned in the programme John so no pressure then Smile
