Hi all,

I've just bought 55 reg mk3 and am having trouble with the remote locking. Both key fobs work sometimes when locking/unlocking the car. They can work one minute, but not the next. Often I have to resort to the key. I've changed both batteries and the keys start the car fine. Any ideas? Cheers.

Try carefully bending the contacts of the battery contact terminals so they make better contact with the battery. There was a Mazda technical bulletin for that issue saying "The negative terminal in the transmitter is deformed, causing a poor contact to the battery.". The mass production change at VIN 115416 was to change the shape of the negative battery terminal in the transmitter. If the last 6 digits of your VIN are less the the 115416 then you probably have an early type transmitter.

Thanks for that - I think it's worked. Will see how it goes. Now I just need to dry out the carpets from the blocked drain tube and the car should be sorted 

 Thanks Robbie....stopped using one of mine about a year ago because of this problem....i'd just put it down to wear & tear
