    To do list

     Hi,having owned my 1st mx5 for only five days,my to-do list is looking like this for now,lol -;

1.Renew sills on both sides (short 300mm piece at rear).

2.Fit a new front grille (non existant at the mo).

    3.Pull a few dents out.

4.A nice set of 16'' alloys

5.Fit a new rear plastic window (being done on monday coming)

    6.Seal/rustproof underneath etc.

Regarding the sills,i am looking on ebay and found sill repair kits for £62.Anyone used these?...................http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330748300338?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

    Thx

I'm soon to get a pair of those welded in on my mk1. They are fairly simple things, but having the right shaped bit of tin to weld in saves a whole lot of fabrication time so they're well worth the investment. I can't give you a personal review yet though...

If you've properly made up your mind, then all power to you. The size looks good IMO (see mine below)....but I'm getting rid as soon as I can. The ride is too crashy, handling is too skittish, and tyre choice is extremely limited and extremely expensive....midrange tyres (Falken) on mine are £95 a corner at the cheapest place around here.

    Re: To do list

Thx Jon,nice looking wheels. Is the ride that harsh is it?I just want to fill the arch a bit more, but if it compromises ride quality, then i  might have to think again.Regarding the sills, they seem a great product. Will be getting them in a couple of months after just ordering a new grille.

It's not terrible...but as an everyday drive (on wiltshire roads) it's just too crashy and is getting annoying.

    They do look nice though.

    Re: To do list

The larger wheels have lower profile tyres so the arch gap should be the same, unless you want to change your gearing and speedo ratio!

On my mk2, I decided that 15" wheels were a good compromise, between comfort and supposed sportiness.

Hiya and welcome to the addiction Big Smile I think that most people would agree that 15's on a MKI give the best looks and ride quality.

Well my to-do list looks something like: Replace catalyst, replace droplinks all round, replace brake lines, repair sills, fit new wheels...so not immediately! However, there's a member near me who will be getting a pair welded in on his mk2 by the same guy, so will see how that goes.

IMHO it looks better with the 16' wheels. You say that the ride is better but have you found any improvment in the handaling having reduced the unsprung weight?
