Central locking passenger side wiring (NA)/heater blower unit removal

    Hi

I have managed to get wiring from a central locking kit to the drivers side door through the rubber tubes - I found detaching the fuse box let me access from the car side and a bit of bicycle gear cable got down into the door (eventually!)

On the passenger side however, the heater blower unit is preventing me from accessing any of the wiring on the car side. I figure if I can remove it I have a decent shot at getting the wiring out from the car, and according to the enthusiasts manual (grainger and shoemark) I should be able to pull this unit after removing the glovebox and three bolts. btw this car has A.C and this seems to be part of the problem.

I can not seem to get it out though, and am starting to wonder if the dash needs to come off..? Any tips appreciated - either how to access the wiring some other way, or get the blower unit out (preferably without removing the dash!)

No need to remove the blower, try threading a tracer made from an old metal coat-hanger through, you may find that un-popping the corrugated rubber at the body end will make the route through the grommet a bit more straighter. I fitted electric mirror wiring through there, it isnt easy but can be doneThumbs up

As taff as said, there is no need to remove the blower, i have never needed to when fitting Remote C/L system, we are taking about feeding the loom from the cab into the door here, yes? pop the rubber boot off from  the door and A post, feed a wire coat hanger bent straight or sim( i use a s/steel welding rod) through from the A post into the cab, don't forget to remove the side wall trim and glove box if you wish, once through, use electrical tape and tape the loom to the end of the hanger and just pull through, do the same from inside the door to the boot job done, i don't know what you have read?show us please.

Re: Central locking passenger side wiring (NA)/heater blower unit removal

    Hi

thanks for the advice. I think you might be onto something with removing the side wall trim - I thought that was all one piece of dashboard near the door. I have the glovebox off but with the blower in place can't see anything coming in from outside. I don't seem to be able to remove the rubber trim completely either, since it continues on into the car with the speaker and window wiring inside it.

Can you elaborate a bit on the side wall trim, i.e which part comes off seperate to the dash?

    Cheers!

Got it! Indeed no need to remove blower. Alarge  cable tie from outside to the cab thankfully exited facing towards me rather than the firewall and I got the wires through in ten minutes!
