    Rich M:
Thanks Geoff, you may have been careful to apply it only to the metal parts of the pushrod and piston and none has migrated to the cylinder bore. The thought of someone pulling back the boot and giving it a blast from an aerosol of mineral grease is not good Shock.

That's why I said in a post above

"do not use ordinary lube WD40 anything that isn't suitable for use on hydraulic seals. They will perish and the clutch slave will expire."

Lithium grease is also mineral oil based and should not be used.

    Re: Clutch Squeak....

I have a simple question. It's very confusing reading this thread. I have a squeaking clutch. I want to pull back the rubber boot on the actuator and spray some grease in... Which grease though. I'll be going to halfords... Bit advice on which type? I was going to get white lithium but I'm having doubts now.

To avoid any confusion, get some of this:

    Castrol Red Rubber Grease

A special, rubber compatible grease for use on hydraulic brake and clutch components where hardening or swelling of rubber must be avoided.
Useful in assembly of rubber components for brake, clutch and suspension units

Again, do not use any spray lubricants. No WD40, Plus Gas or anything else out of an aerosol

Sprayed some silicone grease on mine today. Squeaking now gone.

    Re: Clutch Squeak....

Would this stuff be safe to use with the rubber boot and seals?

    http://www.3inone.com/products/silicone-spray/

It says it's OK with rubber, but I don't want to take any chances.

But I do need to get rid of the squeak!

Yep, if you're in the UK Halfords do that one and also their own which I use around the garage for rubber and plastics, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_219033_langId_-1_categoryId_165705#tab1

    Re: Clutch Squeak....

Thanks Rich - I spotted in Halfords but thought I would double check first.

Actually, thinking about it I have some silicone sparay lube in the garage already, better check that one befoe I buy another.
