    Daves Supreme Blue Sport

Waited 3 months for a supreme blue hardtop & 4 pop up on Ebay in the same week.

So finally bought one complete with padded storage bag Yes They all sold for between £400 -£460 so no bargain but worth it for those winter months me thinks.

I thought i`d be happy with the spec of the Sport as it came & no longer trawl the Ebay ads for bargains.......WRONG

First week i added the grill & split sunvisers followed by style bars & then the impulse buys took over....

Upgraded the stereo & changed the windblocker to one with speakers & even treated myself to a personal plate.

So do i regret selling the Zafira & my MK1?

NO....So far managed quite well with only one car & there is no doubt the MK2.5 Sport as a daily drive is excellent. IF i found the need to get another 4 seater i`d have no problem having a MK1 weekend toy again though.......still got a soft spot for those pop ups Yes

But as i drive this every day now it`s the little subtle improvements you tend to appreciate.....the remote central locking & remote boot opener. A bigger boot with boot lights & the boot lid can be locked with the key.

Windows that go up & down the same day you press the switch, Big Smile Front fog lamps, heated rear screen ETC ETC

And of course the extra bracing, bigger brakes ETC make it a great drive.

So all in all so far so good.............But i doubt the Ebay spending is finished yet.....Although SWIMBO says it has Tongue Tied

Just love the look of the Mk1 and 2/2.5 cars with a hardtop. Looks very classy and well worth the wait, I'd say.

I don't think that I would ever fit a hardtop, just personal choice, but I do reckon that a Mk1 or Mk2 with a hardtop makes for the prettiest coupe around. There's a white Mk1 around here, with a HT and I smile every time I see it. .......Love the blue on your car Dave---

Re: 3 Months Later - What Do I Think?

Thought it was about time i started on the engine bay.......

Last weekend i added a Beatrush slam panel (well it`s handy for putting your spanners on when tinkering) Wink

Today i fitted a K&N Typhoon induction kit (no idea if it makes any differance as yet but looks / sounds much better IMO

Both secondhand bargains from OC members i might add.

Now i just need a warmish / dry day to give the bay a good clean up Thumbs up

Re: 3 Months Later - What Do I Think?

    Really nice looking car!!

Noticed the double DIN sized stereo you've fitted. I've been looking at those myself on MX5 Parts. A quick question - as obviously the size of the stereo takes out the clock and the cubby hole above the normal stereo slot, does this one have a clock as part of the display?

    Hi there!

First post and I've just fitted the same double din cd player to my 99 mk2 after seeing yours!

Was wondering whether the double din surround came with your purchase or if it was brought separately?

    Cheers

    Pete

    Hi Pete,

My car is a 2003 MK2.5 so came with a double din stereo from new so was just a matter of replacing like for like.

Great choice though, i think it is an excellent stereo. Santa bought me an Ipod so i`ve filled it up with my music collection & it sounds great played through this unit.

EDIT....The actual shiney stereo surround came with the unit if that`s what you meant.??

Re: 3 Months Later - What Do I Think?

I am, so far, very happy with it. Still loving the way it changes colour when the lights are turned on/off!

I think I mean the shiney surround, mine was an ebay purchase so I guess i would need to get in contact with JVC...

Re: 3 Months Later - What Do I Think?

First dry day in weeks so thought i would make a start cleaning up the engine bay (as i never won Waynes competition lol)

Long way to go but made a start cleaning up those annoying rusty bolt heads & brackets.

Also fitted a shiney heat sheild.
