    RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

theres a thread starting over on mx5nutz,

where a few members are trying to assess the interest there would be in a record attempt at the most mx5's on a track at the same time, this would be an official attempt with someone present from the GW Records,

the current record is believed to be 227 mr2's, this would be the target,

members on nutz have been asked to spread the word throughout the mx5 community to give everyone a chance of being part of this who wishes to, regardless of club or membership, simply as an mx5 enthusiast,

so im doing my bit for the cause and posting it up here for your members, if they wish to take part  , Big Smile

    Re: RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

If the ER can muster 80 cars for a single run then this should be well within grasp.

Qs: when, where, what, how, who etc etc???

Volcano depending ( Confused ) I'll be up for it...

its still in the early stages, so time, place and venue yet to be sorted, i think they are trying for somewhere central to the country, rockingham was mentioned, i'll keep this thread updated when any new info is available, alternatively keep checking the link to the nutz forum,

heres an extract from the thread on nutz, there is now a venue organised, it has been helped along by the guys from mazda on track who arrange the track days , i will update once more when a date is settled,

UPDATE: Nick and the team at MoT have kindly offered to let us piggy back this on another event that they are organizing, so we now have a confirmed venue. The track has been spoken to and they are up for it as well. Everything is still in early talks but it is looking good :). Remember guys are target is 250 cars. It will be more of a massive meet and Mazda show with a record attempt thrown into the mix so fun to be had by all for sure. More details as and when they are available. The track in question is Blyton Park in Lincolnshire. It is near as makes no difference the middle of the UK and will accommodate all the cars with ease. Worked out we can easily get over 500 cars on there if we get that many.

I have a certificate from the world records people for being part of the 436 Lotuses on track at the same time on 14th June 2009 at Snetterton. It's a long wide track, and it was full.

yes i believe the organisers are aware of this, the difference being, it would be an attempt at cars on track at the same time with emphassis being on them  being the same model, ie- mx5,  not the manufacturer ie mazda, this was the same for the mr2's, not toyata's of any marque,

im guessing from your pics the lotus record was for the manufacturer " lotus" not any specific model ie "elise", please accept my apologies if im wrong, im far from an expert on lotus's,  Big Smile

    Re: RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

I had spotted the difference between single model and single make.

Best to check there is room for all the cars on the track, because Snetterton was full, and it took ages to get the cars on and off again, even using 4 access points. Even doing 10mph was a bit iffy at times.

It's nice getting the certificate. I recommend taking part in something like this to anyone.

    Re: RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

What about the 1300+ MX5s and Roadsters that went around the Myoshi Proving Ground at last year's 20th birthday bash in Japan? Was this not a world record?

    greendrifter:

Game on! There was some talk of Mallory Park trying to organize a similar event after 1200+ cars turned up there for the National Rally last year. Possibly as an alternative to the Spring Rally for those that would not be making the trip across the water to Belfast in 2010. I don't think the idea was progressed any further though.

Appreciate that, mate. Thanks for the heads-up. Just signed up for this, so see you all at Blyton!

    Re: RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT

There is talk about August for this which is a real shame as I'm overseas, would have been pretty cool to take part in a world record attempt.

I hope they can pull it off.
