    How clean is your license?

With the increase in speed cameras, red light cameras, ANPR, video evidence, and so on, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep a clean license.

Sometimes it's our own fault - we took the risk of doing 50mph in the rural 40mph limit, and paid the price
Sometimes it's down to dopeyness - you're driving along at the limit, and the next thing you know *flash, flash* and somehow you've crept over
Sometimes we're innocent but can't (or don't) convince the judge

Whatever the reason, how many of us have squeaky clean licenses?

    Is your license clean?

    • Yes - no points (81.3%)
    • Nope; 1 'low-risk' offence such as speeding, etc. (16.7%)
    • Nope; several 'low-risk' offences such as speeding, etc. (2.1%)
    • Nope; 1 'high-risk' offence such as drink driving (0%)
    • Nope; several 'high-risk' offences such as drink driving (0%)

funny story...you know when you pass and the instructer says you have to send your licnce off within 2 years or it expires...well i didnt...whoops.  So both my licences (past first time both times lol) are squeaky clean...however out of the 3 cars i have owned (punto mk2, rover 618, and now the mx5) the 5 is bound to get me into trouble sooner or later

    3 points: SP50

M6 Toll road...how can you get stopped for speeding on a road you've paid to use, surely that makes it a trackday?!

I never speed in 30 and 20 zones, I would never be able to live with myself if a child ran out and I was unable to stop, just because I was trying to get somewhere a few seconds faster.

I've got 3 points for the twin crimes of being unobservent enough not to notice I was speeding and unobservent enough not to see the nice men doing the detecting. It's a stupidity tax.

However I have told a WPC that her panda car was defective and that she should get it fixed, which she did, so I'm calling it a draw Big Smile

    Clean for 23 years following a 42 in a 30 slap.

How I've done it with an MX5 I've no idea.

Utter luck + not being a plonk.

Re: How clean is your license?

My licence has been clean for quite some time now. I did get 3 points when I was 19 for doing 57mph in a 40 limit, but nothing since.

I still remember being stopped .... I was very apologetic and didn't cause any hassle as firstly, I was actually speeding, but I also had two tyres that were a bit 'iffy' and also didn't want to admit that the speedo hadn't been working for months !! Thankfully my MX5 is a tad more roadworthy.

this thread really is tempting fate!!

have you noticed if you are in a group discussing speeding etc, there will always, almost without fail, be at least one person who has recently sped past a camera, or a camera van, or even got flashed and is waiting to hear their fate in the post.  Invariably however they never do hear...

Yep, I did that on the A249 on the way to Crystal Palace on 30th May at 05:30. Got flashed but no action (phew!) but have no way of knowing if it just wasn't loaded or if someone sensible decided it wasn't that bad a transgression.

Got Zapped by one of those white camera vans in Quedgley Gloucester. I was doing nearly 40 in a 30 Zone just after it changed from 40. I know the area well, just not concentrating but you don't get the chance to argue with the facts of the photo!
