Dear All
Firstly apologies, its been a while since I have visited the forum - hope all of you are well and enjoying your cars!
Secondly, some of you may already know me from the MX5Nutz forum and also the Moonrakers forum (I have the same username of Carlielala), for those of you that dont know me I will introduce myself, my name is Carla and I along with my husband Tony are totally passionate about MX5s, particularly the Mk1. I have owned Mk1s since about 2004 which is when I bought my first V-Spec, since then between myself and my husband we have owned about 10 different Mk1s (a mix of imports and UK cars), some were purchased as projects which we took time to restore and sell on, others were for keeps! Currently we have 5 MX5s (4 of them Mk1s), my car which is a lovely JDM spec'd S-Ltd, my husbands car which is a supercharged and modified Gleneagles, and 3 project cars - a red S-Special, BRG V-Spec and a Mk2 1.8 MX5.
Anyway, Exciting news!! A very good friend of mine (whos also a Roadster owner) works for an automotive publishers, and has approached me about writing an ‘Essential Buyers Guide for the Mazda MX5’, to cover the Mk1 and earlier Mk2 models. This is a dream opportunity for me being that I am so passionate about these cars (and along with the other half have bought, restored and sold a few over the years as mentioned above) and I am going to relish the challenge.
However – they are looking for another author – they also want to publish a Restoration book for the Mk1 models, they did ask me, but there are some resto areas that I have not yet had the pleasure to indulge in as yet, but I know many of you have hands on experience in a full MX5 project restoration – from the mechanical side of it to the all important welding, redoing the interior, etc..etc…etc…
It will be a big commitment as you can imagine (another reason I cant do it as I have too many other commitments unfortunately), and will take some time to complete – but if you have the knowledge, technical ability, practicality and can provide the pictures, put it all down on paper/pc then let me know and I will pass your name/details over to the publishers and they can explain further what is required. Am guessing it may be along the same lines as the Haynes ‘Do It Up’ book.
I have also approached MX5Nutz to see if they have any interested parties, but I know you guys too have loads of knowledge so thought it maybe the perfect opportunity for one of you.
Let me know if you are interested or have any nominations!!
Best Regards
Carla
