COVENTRY MOTOR MUSEUM, SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

     Hi everyone,

Very advance notice of a gap in our events calendar that David Mortiboys has kindly offered to arrange for us.

The website is www.transport-museum.com  There is lots to see and do by the look of it, and a great indoor venue for November I think!!!

Obviously David will post more information nearer the time.

    Bye for now,

    Karen

I can vouch for CMT, its a very interesting place to visit, I've browsed there for hours.

But I'm a bit lost re what this post is about? - what is being arranged

Yes, that is a couple of bales of bark chippings languishing in the passenger seat of a Spitfire!

    Hi,

The post is a North East Midlands Area Event (see the section title) to visit the Coventry Motor Museum for the day. If you're free on the date you'd be more than welcome to join us.

To whom it may concern!  David/ Karen/ Rich

Just came across this posting, whilst using the NEM site this morning.  Doesn't appear to have been much response so far, maybe too early for people to make plans.  But yes I'm definetly interested.  Await further details.

Rich sorry to hear about your car!  First I heard of it was yesterday in Holmfirth, when I bumped (not literally) into Alan from Peaks & Pennines.

Another conversation later in the day, Jim may know of a MK3 available at a bargain price, worth a call.

    Hi Alan,

You're right - it's early, the interest will increase nearer the date.

No worries re: the car - I've been to look at a mk3, but it didn't grab me like the mk1, so I'm undecided on that front....

Re: COVENTRY MOTOR MUSEUM, SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

     Hi everyone,

I'm planning to come on the Coventry Motor Museum run - Not been able to make many NEM events this year, but I've definitely booked this one in the calendar.

Had a great day out at Silverstone on Saturday and came back with the hood down. It is right what they say, keep the car above 40 mph and the rain just goes over the top. I came through some very, very heavy rain around Tamworth on the A5 and only my hat got wet. (Being tall, that bit is sticking up into the airflow.)  I expect that other motorist could not believe their eyes as an open topped sports car passed them in the heavy rain.

     Regards,

    Nigel and Adrienne

I spoke to David Mortiboys last week, I know he has this drive/visit in hand and will be posting more information re timings etc in the next week or so. The link to the museum website is on the first post on this thread. If you would like to come along will you start posting so that David can get a rough idea of numbers please.

Re: COVENTRY MOTOR MUSEUM, SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

More information on the Coventry Motor Museum Trip.
David and Ann will join everyone at The Harvestor Restaurant, Watling Street, Burbage, Leicestershire, LE10 2JQ.  This is very near to the M69 roundabout.  If we could meet there at 10.15 am, depart by 10.45 am.

Is anyone willing to lead from The Clock Warehouse? To go there is completely in the wrong direction for us, but Paul and I are happy to lead from Tesco car park in Ashby, either instead of meeting at The Clock, or those from there could meet us at Tesco. Option 3 is just for us all to make our own way to Burbage.

David has some good contacts and has managed to get free, safe car parking on the Nationalgrid site in the centre of Coventry.Smile

It will take approx. 30 mins from Burbage to Coventry.  Hoping to allow as much time as possible for everyone to have a good look around.  It is free to enter the museum www.transport-museum.com  There is a cafeteria in the museum or there are places to eat in Coventry or shopping for the ladies that are  not interested in the museum!! As the Museum is right in the centre, everything is quite close.
Please get in touch if you've got any queries.
