OK, I am going to assume that we all want to eat together and will try and find a restaurant and find out about taxis.

Great news, this is going to be a cracking weekend. Dont forget everyine that you must carry 2 hi vis jackets in your car (not in the boot), plus a warning triangle and its ideal if you also carry a spare bulb set.

Hi everyone. I have heard from the French MX5 Club that we are meeting up with and they have organised a run for us for the Sunday. The run will end up about 90 minutes from Calais allowing us plenty of time to get back to the Tunnel, although I know that Geoff and Dudley are staying an extra night (you guys get to do the route in reverse as well).

My contact will find us somewhere to have lunch on Sunday and I am trying to find a restaurant for all of us (28) on the Saturday, however we may  have to arrnage taxis to get into the town centre.

Hopefully you all have your passports to hand along with European breakdown cover and your health cards.

This is promising to be a real fun weekend.

Also, if you have walkie talkies please bring them, this helps us to stay in touch and keep the cars together. Once we have arrived in France we will re group at the first petrol station on the left just after leaving the train. We will then stop at the Somme Services for coffee etc. Does anyone have any objection to a general pizza/salad/crepe restaruant for the Saturday evening? There doesnt appear to be much choice near the hotel, so we may end up getting taxis into Deauville.

Apparently with convoys - the idea is to keep the person behind you visible, so slow down if needed. If everyone does this then the convey will stay together. Whereas if you speed up to try and keep up with the person in front - then people can become detached at the back.

Dont worry, we have done enough now to know how to handle it, and have found that if there is someone who wants to drive slower or isn't happy with the speed of the pack then they should drop back and meet the others at the destination.

Yes, but people can drop behind for other reasons than they want to drive more slowly (and that's the least likely one). It's generally other traffic getting in the way.

Do you have post codes (or whatever the French use) for all the meeting points, for Sat Navs?

We shouldnt have a problem with the traffic on Saturday. I will sort out post codes etc for the service area stop. The French will supply us with complete route details for the Sunday run.

Nick has led convoys in Europe many a time with upto 20 cars+ so like Nick says not a problem........if people drop back we always meet up at stop off points.

On the way back people can either convoy or just go for it to get back to the tunnel, has always worked well before.....if you travel at 60mph on a French motorway you aint never going to get to your destination!!!!

70 to 80mph in good weather is the norm.....
