How will I know who's who?
I hope this is not a daft question. I am going to the National, my first and I was just wondering how do you know who is who in terms of "Our Forum Names" Having spoken to a number of members is there any way of knowing if you are talking to a member that you have been in touch with on the forum? I think I will put a small card on the dash with JulianHJT so if any one wants to come up for a chat they will know who they are talking too. What do you think?
See you there

Re: How do will I know who's who?
Just ask around when you get there, i'm sure owners will point each other out , but it's a fair point OC,maybe there should be some kind of badges worn? like at functions?
Don't know about on the dash , as the Mx/roadsters will be parked up all day.
See you there,.........if you can found me

Re: How do will I know who's who?
How about flags? You could stick a flag up and everyone would be able to see who you were.
You'd be able to tell who I was from my car, if I was going, and I have had information boards up on my dash all day at shows before with no harm done (plus then people just have a read and clear off, rather than stand around asking me the same three questions all day)

Re: How do will I know who's who?
At previous rallies people have put a card in their windscreen with a photo of themselves and their forum name and area. I've seen people wearing name badges too..easy enough to make with stiff card, some kind of waterproof covering and a pin.
Some people make information boards and display them in the windscreen.

Simple. Use a MX5 owner members card and print your name next to your membership No and then safety pin it to your coat/shirt

Re: How will I know who's who?
It's not a daft question, it's an excellent question.
I've volunteered as a parking marshal, and you'll recognise me by the huge grin I'll be wearing; Cornwall in Spring, the sun will be shining, I'll be meeting a lot of the people I've got to know through this forum and I drive an MX-5. Big grin.
I think it's up to each of us to decide whether we want to share information that will identify us, and if so, post it here. For those of us who understandably want to keep such information under tighter control, there's a facility to send and receive personal messages through this website where we can exchange pictures, mobile numbers and so on ahead of the Rally. I also like the idea of name badges.
Roll on next May!

Back in 2005 one of the Eastern guys produced these for all members attending events.

Re: How will I know who's who?
Excellent idea.
I should point out that I'm not involved with the organisation of the Spring Rally, so my views are entirely personal and unofficial. Having said that, I'm looking forward to actually meeting what I hope are friends that I've made on this website; the problem is recognition.
Could we come up with a simple design for a badge that shows the wearer's "forum name", about credit-card or business-card size, that would fit into a standard conference/visitor badge holder? It doesn't need to be complicated, just distinctive.
Then anyone who wants to be recognised and identified by their "forum name" can print a badge and wear it prominently. Those of us who understandably prefer a bit of privacy don't have to join in.

Re: How will I know who's who?
As we say in Cornwall, "proper job". Could you pm it as a .doc or .docx file to those who want one (me, for instance)?
