South East - New Year Brighton Fish and Chip Run 29th January 2012

MX-5 New Year Brighton Fish and Chip Run

    29th January 2012

Hello everyone (South East / North Thames/ West London and any other area)

Here’s your chance to participate in the Brighton Run, and get together with like-minded people and, with luck, enjoy a drive down to the coast in crisp winter sunshine.  Then it will be fish and chips on the pier and as usual I will book 100 places eeek...!!!

    Meeting Points

North Thames Members - Eric Terry (Eric ET), meeting at M25 Thurrock Lakeside Services at 8.30 to drive to Clacket Lane Services and meet with South East.

South East (Kent) Members - Sarah (Mazda Chick), meeting at Clacket Lane Services on M25 Westbound. Get there from 9am with the aim of leaving at 10am. You will be able to get breakfast or coffee before we leave and toilet facilities as normal.
Suggested route directions which use the A22 and A275 route avoiding main highways can be downloaded from here , and the link to the route map is
     http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Westerham+TN16+2ER&daddr=BN2+1TW&geocode=FQRYDgMdXpkAACkRPER30VXfRzGDbKbILq4OHQ%3BFSJwBwMd4-r9_ymb1S5Pp4V1SDGHtUBwx-4_iA&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=h&sll=51.045711,-0.082397&sspn=0.490405,1.668549&ie=UTF8&ll=51.045711,-0.048065&spn=0.490405,1.668549&z=10

South East (West Sussex) Members -  meet up with Paul Cleaver at McDonalds on the A24 at the Buckbarn crossing [ RH13 8LW] from 0915hrs for 1000hrs departure.  We can then take a leisurely run down to Maderia Drive, Brighton and meet up with the main convoys when they arrive from Ockham and Clackets Lane. Paul will hand out instructions on the day.

West London Members Helen will meet at Ockham Common Visitors Centre, Boldermere Car Park, Old Lane, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 1ND.  This is on the A3 just south of Junction 10 of the M25 (you have to approach it from the slip road off the roundabout of the A3/M25 junction). Get there from 09:00 with the aim of leaving at 10:00. A copy of the suggested route (as used in previous years) can be downloaded from here.

Other members are free to meet at whichever of the above meeting points is convenient, or make their own way to Brighton.

We have reserved the right hand side of Palm Court for you all from 12.00 -13.00.  People will have to say” MX5” to be put to the right hand side of the restaurant. They will only hold the reserved seats up to 1pm.

Have put this in the diary. Dry for roofs down I hope!

Will there be a convoy back? I haven't been through the Cuilfail Tunnel in Lewes for a longtime and fancy taking that route home Big Smile

     Hi Dan

It is up to you to find your own route home so looks like you will be having  a route via the Cuilfail Tunnel me thinks and tops down if it is dry, however I may still have my hard top on the car if weather still iffy, it lives outside all year so winter months it has the hard top on to protect the soft tops life.Smile

    Cheers

The weather last time was fantastic. There are of course other things to do in Brighton after lunch - shopping in the Lanes etc. The parking charges are pretty low in Madeira Drive at that time of year (but don't forget to bring some change though).

    Hi Sarah Paul

I'm afraid i will be unable to make this one, I  can only walk a few yds now,    I go into hospital 1st Feb for surgery,  they have decided that my blockages are to dangerous for stents so they are going to do arterial bypasses in both groins and tummy   hope you all have a good day and the weather is good to you.
