My Black Classic Mods so far

First photos of my rust free 1997 1.8 Classic had her a few weeks now,so far fitted a jdm front strut brace, cone filter and heat shield, have got some coilovers on the way next week

Inside fitted a new gearknob,stereo/speakers and torpedo surrounds, recoloured the red stitching as it was sun bleached white/pink,got alloy heater panel fitted and have set of TT heater vent rings to come just thought i would start an ongoing thread, comments please good or bad thanks Chris

My word your engine bay looks nice and clean, as does the rest of the car. Does the Cone filter thingy give you better performance, I ask as I am not into that sort of modification and was wondering if it was just for show, mind there is nothing wrong with that if it is.

Hi no its not just for show,i fitted it mainly to give a nice throaty sound, as with the standard set up its far far too quiet for me.Theres some say it gives you a bit more BHP ,it might it might not ? but it certainly feels more responsive. Thanks for your comments Pollyanna best regards Chris

     Hi,

I have the same model! great cars aren't they. Your car looks great, lovely and clean with no dents as far as I can see. I do like the clear side indicators, make it look more up to date than my standard ones. If you ever decide to upgrade the wheels, would you please let me have first shout on the standard ones, looking to get a winter set/summer set.

    All the best, Neil

Looking good! Your heat shield looks excellent, may I ask where you got it from/how you made it? I think mine must get very hot sitting right next to the manifold.

I have recently fitted a K&N filter and can definitely report the car feels a lot more responsive and seems to hold on to the accelleration better, as well as sounding a lot more meaty!

Hi the heatshield is a home made jobby,i bought a induction kit with the large alloy pipes and samco hoses but it turned out to be for a mk2,so i only used the cone and heat shield and added heat reflecting material to it,well made though and does a good job

Did you make it? Would you make another, or let me know how I would go about it? I think it would make a huge difference to intake temps.

Embarassed Sorry didn't read it properly!

That would be fantastic if you could do that, I'd really appreciate that. Will give me another project to add to the "winter list"!
