    Sunday 12th February

    Hi All

Just been to see my friendly tyre fitting guys and had a look at their latest high tech alignment gear, Wow they have spent a fortune on the latest gear.

Anyway I asked if they would do a bit of a special for the Owners Club and he was very happy to get involved with this.

    So

We need a minimum of 10 Cars (Maximum 20) and he is prepared to open up on a Sunday especially for us so that we can have full use of the facilities.

They can do the 4 wheel alignment to factory settings or your own if you have your own specific requirements they are also prepared to swap wheels and tyres around if required and I am sure he will do something special if anybody needs new rubber.

Just been to see Kieran and he has gone out of his way to make this event great for us.

    1. Free nitrogen fill for all attending, That's right they will deflate you tyres and refill with Nitrogen for free ( this is worth a fiver on its own)

    2. They are prepared to offer fluid changing on the day for a nominal fee (engine oil, diff oil, Gearbox oil and brake fluid) you will need to provide the oil and filters but they will do the rest.

    3. Bring your own brake pads and they will fit them again for a nominal fee

    4. If you want new tyres then Kieran is offering 35% off all tyres plus a fiver for fitting ( Pirelli P1 185/60 14 £38 + Vat or 195/50 15 £39.24 + Vat) He can get any make but needs to know in advance please.

    5. Tyre changing and wheel swapping

    6. Exhaust Fitting

    7. Free Tea and Coffee

    8. Plus of course the main reason for going the full 4 wheel Geometry setup (Camber, Cast and toe) for £30.00

Basically he has opened the workshop for us and us alone so please support this event.

    The Cost

He will charge just £30 for a full 4 wheel alignment and trust me this is a bargain.

    When

    Sunday 12th February

There are tea and coffe facilities and a nice warm waiting room.

I will have all the details at wednesday's meet.

Please let me know if you are interested, as I said we need 10 as a minimum.

Sorry it will be in Wymondham, 6 miles south of Norwich on the main A11.

Passports are still required but if you take the Thetford roundabouts fast enough you can time warp through without.

You would be more than welcome, Hope you can make it.

    Re: 4 Wheel Alignment Day

    Interesting!

Wymondham is where i bought this car from last Easter! Could be a good excuse to visit the previous owner who is no doubt by now regretting "upgrading" to a Z3 Wink

£30 is a bargain too. Trouble is it would be a 200 mile round trip for me & would be a gamble regarding the weather. Confused

Will they be stocking a few replacement bolts just incase?

    Hi Dave

Would be great if you can make it, I know its a bit of a drive but should be a good day out and there is a great pub close by if anyone fancies a nice lunch.

Not sure about the bolt situation, I will raise the question when I see him next week.

    Hi Kev

This sounds great - I've been trying to get around to doing this for a while on at least one of mine so on proviso the date is ok, count me in!

Shall we all do a few miles together afterwards to check the set ups? ;-)

Oh, and I probably have a few used bolts somewhere too!

    Hi Malcolm

That's great will put you on the list.

It would be great to have a little runout afterwards to see how the cars go with their new setups and of course we are right in the middle of Lotus's test route so perhaps we could do a few circuits in between of each alignment.

Each car will take approximately 30-40 minutes so this could work very well as we will have 5-6 hours.

If you have some spare bolts that would be great as I am sure there will be a few issues over the day.

    Cheers

    Kevin

    Paul.

    Hi Paul

The MX5 benefits from having a fully adjustable chassis, this means the Camber, Castor, toe in and toe out angles can all be adjusted to suit your own driving style. Obviously Mazda set these at the factory to suit the majority of usage which is road use. You can change these angles to improve the handling to suit say track use or dast road use.

Over the years these adjustments can get knocked out of position through kerbs and potholes etc which will of course upset the handling of the car.

What we are doing on this day is to make sure the angles are all correct and make any adjustments as neccessary. Some people will be quite happy to have a standard factory set up and others may have their own requirements.

£30 is a bargain for this and the Guy has really done me a favour. I will try and take some pictures next week of the set up there so you can see how much they have invested.

If you are still up for this then let me know and I will add you to the list.

    Regards

    Kevin
