My Lovely mk1 receiving a well earned restoration!

Good Afternoon everyone! Only just signed up to the forum, but wanted to share the progress of  my company's restoration of my own MX5 - i must stress, this isn't a shameless advertisment for my company...just an mx5 lover wanting to share some pictures to people who might appreciate a lot of TLC being given to a worthy classic!

Incase anyone was interested, the new colour is Mazda 38J Celestial Blue.

There are around 180 pictures of the restoration from start to (almost) finish - i (obviously) won't upload them all here, as this would swallow the bandwidth from half of the midlands.

The entire album is on my company's Facebook page, feel free to have a look! - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paramount-Refinishing/138030046289994

Ta very much for reading! p.s sorry for the quality of some pictures, its hard to keep the camera lens muck free when you're permanently covered in filler dust and paint!

Re: My Lovely mk1 receiving a well earned restoration!

Thanks alot, It's taken around 4-5 weeks in total from start to finish. Just had the new Mohair Roof with heated rear screen fitted today, thanks to The Soft Top Shop (based in Stockport, but we're based in Mansfield, and there was no charge for distance!). I'm just waiting on a scraper moulding and number plate plinth on back order from Mazda, other than that, she is complete! (apart from something called road tax...mind at least road tax on mx5's is cheap...Rolling eyes)

It looks lovely, really well fitted, and (thankfully!!) no scratches!

The Mk1 looks so lovely with no front number plate. Such a shame we have to spoil the lines with one.

That's an excellent piece of work and a really nice colour too.

The thud that you just heard was my chin hitting the floor. Stunning paintwork. Dare I ask how much a paying punter would need to shell out for something of that standard?

Stick on number plate is the way to go. It'll take a haaaard MOT tester to fail it. Just point out that if he does then every E-type ever made should fail too and that makes him a bad man...

Colour reminds me of my Persian Aqua TR7V8 from years back. Looks good on the Mazda too Thumbs up

I have to agree with the others; what a stunning colour. The word that springs to mind is 'lustre'.

Paul, fitted my soft top as well, can't recommend him highly enough.

Corr that ain't half nice! Mine is screaming for a respray at some point, and for the 5 big holes in the nose to be filled that previous owners have kindly left while installing number plates!

Nothing wrong with a shameless advertisement for work of that quality. It's nice to know who can do good stuff.

Do you mind saying in open forum what you'd charge for a job of that type?
