MX-5 OC Forum

 Last month was a great start to the year with 17 cars showing up including some SC'ed and turbo'ed cars.

All MX5 enthusiasts are welcome at these meets, doesn't matter what you turn up in on the day. Just to add this is not an owners club organised event, but all owners club members are very welcome.

I'll be there from around 9.00am on Sunday 5th February for the usual coffees at Costa Coffee and a chance to do a bit of tyre-kicking at Northop Hall Services (westbound) on the A55 - CH7 6HB. We usually get a range of 5's from mk1 to mk3 usually including a couple of FI'ed beasts (if you speak nicely to the owners I'm sure they'll take you out for a ride in them )

Adjoining Costa is Subway, OK Diner & McDonalds (for those who want a Maccy D's Brekkie ) - there's also a Shell petrol station on site for anyone requiring fuel. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

 Just to add to this we have been invited to go along to an open day at Blink motorsport in Winsford. I will be aiming to set off from the normal venue at northop hall at about 11am and we will convoy over which should get us to winsford before midday.

If anyone is considering coming along to the meet can you indicate below if you want to come to blink motorsport too or not as the case may be. That way I can get a rough idea of numbers of people that want to do each option.

Could you also indicate if you just want to go direct to blink motorsport. I understand they will be there all day but it would make sense if you aimed to be there from midday that way we all arrive at roughly the same time.

Unless im doing my "caring for the elderly" duty(mum n dad not too well) on Sunday I may pop along Peter, ill let you know if I am :-)

Right I've had a look at the weather forecast for this weekend and it isn't looking fantastic. There's snow due on saturday during the day and into the evening, clearing later on saturday night and into sunday. Hopefully this will cause us no problems. But if the roads are looking really bad on saturday or sunday morning then I may need to cancel this. My main concern is that I don't want people to make a trip that may get them into difficulty or accidents.

Hopefully we will still be going ahead, but please keep a close eye on this thread for news. I will confirm one way or the other when things get clearer.

Looked on met office website and weatherfront moving in from the west with a blanket of snow/sleet and turning to rain in the afternoon.....would be ok...... but if temp drops overnight its gonna get scarey out there............like you said Peter its not worth the risk so evaluate it Saturday m8

Well we ended up running it ok, roads were clear in the west but when we went over to blink motorsport at winsford the conditions deteriorated with fog and some remaining snow on the roads. However we all got to blink ok and a bit of fun was had slipping and sliding round their car park!

Richard and Fraser gave us a very interesting tour of their garage and showed us all the stuff they use for the services they can provide, plus a couple of lucky owners got a free geo check too!
