    "IDEA" for MX5-OC service book/folder

Hi firstly, i wasnt sure where to post this thread, and i am pretty sure i have seen an "idea or suugestion" area on here. ...

well i would be very interested in getting or helping the club get our own service record folders for our cars, so we can keep MOT certificates, Tax recipts, Reciepts of work done on the car....et that sort of thing.

most of you probably already have one that comes with the car but wouldnt you like a new one with MX5-OC and the logo ?

well in my opinion its a nice idea, let me no please guys and girls

Yes I have a folder but one with MX5 oc on the outter cover is a good idea you could split it up for MOT, V5 Doc's, Insurance and service records maybe a page for important imformation relating to your car i.e wheel nut torque, key numbers tyre presuures etc yer nice thought

I don't have anything that came with the car as unfortunately I only have a clear plastic wallet full of stuff that came from the previous owners regarding history post import so a nice owners club item would be an excellent addition to the car.

I'd guess a lot of the stock information could be ready printed as things like tire pressure requirements are fairly standard and for me could replace the manual I don't have or that useful sticker on the door shut so I had to google it the first time I checked them (along with everything I've had to check since).

Anyone have any ideas where such things can be produced?

Good idea - I was just thinking yesterday about how best to keep records of the work I do to my '5 especially as the previous owner has filled up all the slots in the Mazda service book!

I agree, with all the work i'm going to do on mine, I'll soon have a pile of paperwork to file somewhere.

Re: "IDEA" for MX5-OC service book/folder

A slight aside..... but we've just bought a new (2nd hand) main car and the dealer handed over the car with one of those rectangular filing boxes with the spring clip inside. He kept all the documentation, sat nav discs etc in it so all kept safely in one place. So from now on all MOT's, service recepits, car tax reminders etc all just simply get popped into the box to maintain a complete service record for the car when we come to one day sell on. We thought this such a good idea that we've now done the same for the MX5. We've just written the relevant reg number on the box spine, so maybe there could be some way of branding such a box to MX5 OC it....?

I'll pass the OP onto Iain F, our in-house merchandising guru as this does sound like a jolly good idea.

yh i think this would be superb we could also have a small notes area or a mini calender so you can circle important dates and meets :D,

i never recieved one either so thats where my idea came from.

i could mock up some designs if needed ;)

This is nothing new, been doing it for last 40 years. Goto local stationers buy A4 ring binder with  clear plastic front on it, Download/print a photo of your car then put into the front. Buy a packet of Poly Pockets and a A-Z divider, slpit up the poly pocket between the A-Z the insert your reciepts into the correct letter ( I keep mine in date order to make it easier to locate.

I have a folder for each of my Mx5's (all four of them) costs about £3:00 for each one.

         One for my Volvo XC70.

And have just started one for our motorhome that we collect on Thursday (BTW also have one for my Brian James Trailer too) If you keep things tidy and in order you will always find what you want easily.

PS worked 29 years offshore and abroad in stores environment so it comes naturally to me. hope this helps.

Great idea, I like the suggestion of wheel torque/tyre pressures inside front cover plus other "write in" boxes for cam belt mile/age change, MOT month, Insurance month reminders......especially as some have more than one car, and remembering these things can be a nightmare.....I'm sure other suggestions will come in....I like the photo on the front cover.......even the wife would know which car it was then !
