Geometry Day (£30) Sunday 29th July TIMES ADDED PLEASE CHECK!

Please note times have been added beside your names below.

Please ensure you arrive 30 minutes before the time on the plan.

    Back by Popular demand.

Kieron at STS Tyre Pro in Wymondham has very kindly offered to run us another 4 Wheel Alignment Day with a difference but this time even better than before (if that's possible)

Below is the link to the last event

    http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/38580.aspx?PageIndex=1

It follows the same procedure as before but there are limited spaces and because its such great value you need to book early.

    Here is the format

    Location

    STS TYRE PROS
    Station Road
    Wymondham
    NR18 0JY
    Phone: 01953 603102

    Date - Sunday 29th July

    Hi All

Just been to see my friendly tyre fitting guys and had a look at their latest high tech alignment gear, Wow they have spent a fortune on the latest gear.

Anyway I asked if they would do a bit of a special for the Owners Club and he was very happy to get involved with this.

    So

We need a minimum of 10 Cars (Maximum 20) and he is prepared to open up on a Sunday especially for us so that we can have full use of the facilities.

They can do the 4 wheel alignment to factory settings or your own if you have your own specific requirements they are also prepared to swap wheels and tyres around if required and I am sure he will do something special if anybody needs new rubber.

    Plus

    1. Free nitrogen fill for all attending, That's right they will deflate you tyres and refill with Nitrogen for free ( this is worth a fiver on its own)

    2. They are prepared to offer fluid changing on the day for a nominal fee(£10 per item) (engine oil, diff oil, Gearbox oil and brake fluid) you will need to provide the oil and filters but they will do the rest.

    3. Bring your own brake pads and they will fit them again for a nominal fee (It's not worth getting your hands dirty for a tenner)

    4. If you want new tyres then Kieran is offering 35% off all tyres plus a fiver for fitting ( Pirelli P1 185/60 14 £38 + Vat or 195/50 15 £39.24 + Vat) He can get any make but needs to know in advance please.

    5. Tyre changing and wheel swapping

    6. Exhaust Fitting

    7. Free Tea and Coffee

    8. Plus of course the main reason for going the full 4 wheel Geometry setup (Camber, Cast and toe) for £30.00

    9. Last time they even did 3 suspension swaps on the day.

Basically he has opened the workshop for us and us alone so please support this event.

I have took some pictures below of the facilities.

Waiting area with live viewing of the geometry set up.

    General workshop

    Geometry set up area.

Hopefully the weather will allow us to do some runs to try out your new settings.

Please let me know if you would like a slot and what you would like done.

    Hi Steve

    Got you on the list.

If you can't wait for the tyres give Kieron a ring and explain you are booked on the day but can't wait for tyres and see what he can do them for.

He is a great guy and I am sure will help if he can.

    Thank for supporting the event.

    Hi Geoff

Got you on the list and thanks for your support.

It's a great social day with lots of tyre kicking in the car park and I plan a couple of runs so you can try everything out before you leave.

Good to have you on board.

Book me in for a geometry please. I'm fitting some 40mm lower springs in a week or two so I'll want it resetup after that.

I might as well have the gearbox, diff and brake fluid changed at the same time.

    Cheers

More than happy to. They did a great job and made us feel very welcome with a non stop supply of coffee.

The car felt great driving back and at 30 quid is a real bargain.

Re: Geometry Day (£30) Sunday 29th July 2012

    Hi All,

I had this geometery done on my car only last week at Formula 1 in Peterborough, the front drivers side was slightly out. I had a long explaination about this new bit of kit that does the geometery via the computer and all 4 wheels will be perfectly in alignment. The car went on this brand new ramp and 10 mins later they produced a print out of all that was wrong, along with my front driverside wheel being out of alignment also the rear driverside camber angle needed adjustment, so all seemed well, NO!! After an hour or so the young lad started smashing at the rear camber adjust with a chisel and a 10lb hammer, I ran across and told him to stop and had a look at his handy work, he had managed to split along the camber adjust with his actions. I complained to the manager who seemed to think that this is the correct method of adjustment! (I of course will be taking this matter up with their head office due to the damage). Eventually I was given another print out that showed all was now in alignment and a bill was produced  for £127.00. I was shocked and asked why so much, apparently it's £17.50 per adjustment + Vat. After a long argument the manager made me an offer of £63.00 all in as no one had bothered to explain the price structure in advance, be warned and check first!

My point to all of this is to say that at £30.00 it's an absolute bargain and I wish I had read about this beforehand.

    Brian.

Thanks for the comments Brian, Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

We ran a day like this back in February and it was a great success so it was nice to be asked back again. They managed 20 cars on the day which was a fantastic achivement and I think everybody left happy.

    Regards

Sorry to hear about your bad experience Brian, sounds like they paid for the gear but didn't  train their staff Sad I always ask fellow members for recomendations thus limits any problems later, hope all is now well.

Perhaps you could pop along even just to check the guys out?? Maybe then use them at a later date.
