Late comer to the sunshine party!

     Hi all,

Not posted up in the newbies section but will do soon, Im Jason,21, from Leeds. Ive got a 2011 remapped Ibiza Cupra running 211bhp and a shed load of torque. 0-60mph timed at 5.6s with the rear seats out and some good rubber :D:D amzing from a 1.4!  I want a cheap(very cheap) drop top to enjoy the summers in and settled on the mx5 because they are in the price bracket and Im hoping with some care they wont fall apart of be stupidly expensive to run/insure compared to the MG F's and the BMW and they certainly have more style than a ford escort convertible lol Just a few that came up in my auto trader searchs.

So,questions, oh yes, questions. Ive read a good few of the threads on here and in the insurance advice and im guessing UK spec 1.6 will be cheapest to insure?

Classic car insurance is the way to go as I have 3years NCB but can only use it on one car. Admiral Multicar rapes me so thats out of the quesion. at least on line as they say you cant mirror NCB with them. Im will Bell insurance(part of admiral) so maybe will give them a ring and explain the situation. A quote for a mazda 1.6 (pretty sure it was a UK spec one) on admiral on its on was about £840. not bad but I cant really use my NCB on it. Also looked at paymonthly policys but the two I looked at were about 200 a month, for 3 months(summer in the UK lol) thats £600+ so Id almost be as well getting a full years worth. Can a youngtser at my age even get classic car insurance?

This is my current search radius, Im really only wanting a cheeep running car that I can use when its nice out. Doesnt need to be fast or modded but most of these are, do classic car policys  increase prices for mods as much as normal ones do? Is trying to get one for less than a grand going to end up being more hassle than its worth?

Thanks hope to join you all soon (before its winter again!)

    greetings Jay    Waving

i suppose at your age you just have to shop around to find the best insurance from those robbers.

under £1000 is an ok price for a 5. the engine is pretty much bulletproof.

as long as it sounds/feels/drives god, it probably s. just watch for rust in cills etc.

    good luck

Yeah just gota ring all the specialist's cant just moneysupermarket it lol

Theres two cars on here that seem okay and in my price bracket(give or take) but need to make sure I can insure it first I suppose. This is going to be a secondary car occasional use.

Anyone else got any words of wisdom that can help me out with my purchases :)

Seems to be more Imported ones than UK ones. Would rather a UK one for easy of tax/insurance ect.
