MX-5 OC Forum

Hi all,

7Oaks will be running an Autosolo at North Weald on Sunday 8th July at North Weald Airfield.

All are welcome and is likely to be significantly more fun than watching a certain motorsport event at Silverstone that day - and considerably cheaper!
Don't worry that MX5OC isn't listed as invited, you certainly are - we just forgot to put that in the regs.

If you haven't tried a 'Solo yet or are unsure what they are about, then ask away but they are simple, all-forward tests around cones and ANY 4-wheel road legal car is eligible.

MX5s are the perfect car for these events and I'll be entering mine, knowing that it will be one big grin all day long.

Fun is the operative word!

 Hi Andy i just need to ask a couple of things , 1, is there any tolets and snack van 2, do you need a helmit, 3,do you need a national b lience etc , do i need to put my club as the mx5 owners club on the form , sorry to ask but this sounds like a big grin for little money with a road car , i did a mx5 fun day in 2006 with Andrew waslh (carlimits.com) and i was rubbish at the cones but i had the best blast ever .sorry again for sounding like a 12 year old asking all these questions   thanks mark

No problem Mark - none of them are silly questions at all.

in order,

1. yes & yes - loos and burger van on site

2. no - no helmet or any other safety equipment required, but nothing to stop you using them if you wish to.

3. no and yes - no licence required, just your club membership card

Yes, that's right. No competition licence required, just proof that car is fully road legal.

Hi Andy got my ok email the other day so looks likes you were spot on , i looking forword to it and meeting with you  , can i bring my wife along as she intrested in doing one in the near future or is it a non spectator event thanks mark

Whilst technically a non spectator event, there's no limit to how many friends and family you might want to bring, and no obligation to stay all day either, so come on down!

Same goes for anyone else that might be interested in just having a look to see what its all about - we're here to promote motorsport so all are welcome.

I'll be in one of the other MX5s. Hopefully I might get round the cones a bit quicker this time :D

Can we just turn up on the day and enter? as i notice the closing date on the regs is today.

If you are interested I would stick an entry form in by e-mail to Keith , the entries sec PDQ.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem paying the entry fee on the day.

If all else fails you can always volunteer to marshal-it's not difficult on an Autosolo.

I have just got the finals and entry list through and it looks as though we will have seven MX5s of various descriptions out.

Have spoken to Keith, given details of the three of us, have down loaded and printed forms to hand in on Sunday with payment.

Thanks for the invitation the event was fantastic with a good variation in different courses. Very well organised and everyone seemed to have a great time, shame about the weather but we got the roof down in the end.

Can't wait for the next one in September.

Thanks Chris - glad you had fun and yes, its definitely better topless. I told you that weather was guaranteed and as ever North Weald didn't disappoint.
