    Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

Time to change my car again after 3 great years. Currently have a 2.0 Sport Tech in Aluminium Silver, last one was a 2.0 Sport in Galaxy Grey.

Very tempted by the Venture Sport Coupe - anyone have one or seen one? One of my local dealers tells me they are hard to source, whilst another says it's no problem - don't know who to believe - think the first dealer may be using that excuse as a bargaining chip to get me to do the deal quickly. Any thoughts?

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

I picked up a pre-reg Venture from Perry's @ Preston on the weekend.  Not sure if they have any more Venture models, but there was a pre-reg silver Sport Tech in the showroom for £16.5k when I was there.

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

I could use a bit of advice here. I'm looking to buy a new 2.0 Sport Tech Coupe shortly. What's the difference between one of those and the Venture special edition? Are there any other special editions and where can I find out about them as I've looked on the Mazda UK website and can't see any mention. I've never much seen the point in special editions when I've bought other cars before but maybe I'm missing something in this instance.

Yep, I thought the grey looked nice - and the Ebony is very smart.

Serif, essentially Mazda bring out a number of special editions on the MX5 - usually in distinct colours, different seat leather, and special tweaks - for example the Venture has integrated sat-nav. The Special Editions usually sell for around about the same price as the normal models, but the added goodies make them attractive. I fancy the Venture as it has the built in Sony TomTom sat-nav, although it loses the BOSE stereo fitted as standard to the 2.0.

Some owners swear by the extra exclusivity a special edition brings - you certainly see fewer of them on the roads, but I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I understand there will be another soon - the Kuro - try googling it. Looks good too.

Recent special editions have been the Senshu (Germany), Kendo (UK), Niseko (UK), ZSport (UK), but the list is many. Hard enough to find though - to buy new you need to be changing your car as the special edition you want is released I guess....

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

When I was looking certainly 2 of the 4 dealers had them in the showroom/in stock.  One dealer had a grey Coupe (and a white one) and did say if I wanted a softop 1.8 he recommended I place an order soon (he checked the system) and being only 50 made, again I took this to be a selling tactic rather than genuine advice.  The dealer I went with offered the 1.8 Venture soft top (he had one sitting at his dealership) for less than the cost of the standard 1.8SE and offered the 3yr zero PC which other dealers had said was not available on the Venture.  Lastly I was keen to have leather and found it's not even available as an option on the 1.8 softop (only available on the Coupe), so that and the deal which worked out cheaper than the base car swung it. Best of luck!

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

For me I was swayed by the extra kit that came with the Venture and the price point rather than for just the opportunity of getting a ltd edition.  I was originally set on a Sport Tech, but when the 2.0l Venture came up at virtually the same price I thought it would be rude not to.  Not sure if the Venture is more desirable / easier to sell, but I'm sure it can't do any harm  Big Smile

Dealt with Jeff @ Perry's in Preston.  Ebony had gone (your car I guess) and the grey car outside had sold the day I went to view the cars.  Mine was the one in the showroom.

I'm guessing that our number plates are very similar then Stephen.

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

Just my twopee, but I can't understand why anyone would want a factory fitted Sat Nav - unless they plan on not keeping the car for too long. Factory updates to the Sat Nav are usually tre' expensive - I could buy a whole new Tom Tom for less than they want from a mate to update his Honda - mind you that does use Honda's own system. Must admit though - that fitted map unit in the Venture looks really neat, it took me ages fitting the Tom Tom in my car and hiding all the wires

As far as limited edition Mx5s go, I love them. I've never bought a new car in my life though - too much depreciation as soon as you drive them out of the showroom, but I've picked up a few nice ex demos at knock down prices over the years. When I was hunting for my present MX5 I knew I wanted a Ltd Edition - no more than two yeas old as I really wanted the mk3.5.

I understand that the updates are relatively easy to do with straightforward downloads - taking the SD card out and updating through your PC etc.

And yes, you've got a point with brand new cars - depeciation is shocking, but I kind of like it Big Smile

Re: Mark 3.5 Venture Sport Coupe

Depreciation is only an issue if you sell!  I've had 2 cars (both from new) in the last 19 - so depreciation not really an issue.  But if you chop every 2-3 years........
