    Mk2.5 wheel arch/sills

    Hi

Like death and taxes, sill corrosion seems to be unavoidable. My 2003 Nevada needs the rear of the n/s and both rear arch lips sorted and (like almost every post on this topic I've read on this forum) I'd like a job that lasts.

    1) Can anyone recommend a body shop with MX5 sill credentials within reasonable distance of Brentwood and

    2) Is it worth requesting a heavier gauge steel for the new metal?

Mine were done at CL Panelcraft in Braintree a couple of years ago now.  Good but around £600 for the pair.  I believe Allan, (Bling King Good) in our group has also done some very good repairs recently too.  His workshop is in Bulphan.

    Re: Mk2.5 wheel arch/sills

    Hi all

In the end I went to a local repair shop (W Hart Cars at Swallows Cross Farm near Doddinghurst).

He checked over both sills and replaced corroded metal in the outer sill and bottom of the rear arches, removed some surface rust from the inner surface, and injected rust preventative inside the sills. The driver's side had already been patched once shortly before I acquired the car while the n/s was original.

The whole job took 2.5 days and cost a reasonable (I think) £480 including VAT for what looks like a very thorough and tidy job. I'll be interested to see how it fares but am pleased with the outcome.

Hi David.  Why not bring it along to Club Night next week so we can take a look.
