Hi from a new yorkshire owner

just dropped in to say hi,Ian from pontefract, had heart attack last year at 56 so presently and hopefully for the forseeable future will be taking it easy, reckon i've done my bit lol, will try to get to the leeds meet if at all possible, right then well, travelled to oswestry to view the car on the train,4+ hours, but on the plus side i came away with my car Clapping hands in the air, she's a 1998 1.6 roadster in "chaste white ?" what ever that means, with just 39k on the clock, imported sept 08 so not been here 4 years yet hence the body work is spotless,sills/arches nothing (finger wiping clean lol),infact looks like nothing, need to sort a rust proofing session somewhere in w/yorks ?, Roof is on it's way,but he did say that in the ad,so going to sort another out sooner rather than later, any yorkshire recommendations ?,drove her home 130 miles no problems, well impressed, infact if this cheesy grin doesnt go i'll have to have my teeth whitened.....here's a rip from the ad...

    mx5 roadster jdm "special package" mk2 ?

COMPLIMENTED WITH  'CHARCOAL'  CLOTH/VELOUR SPORTS SEATS,BLACK VINYL HOOD WITH HEATED GLASS  REAR WINDOW

'VERY RARE'   15''   JDM   'WEDS'  LENSIO  LIGHT-WEIGHT  ALLOY  WHEELS !!!

    5 SPEED MANUAL,POWER STEERING,'TORSEN'  LIMITED SLIP-DIFF !!

TWIN AIR-BAGS,FACTORY OPTION   'MAZDASPEED'   FRONT SPOILER WITH DRIVING LAMPS !!

FACTORY OPTION BODY COLOURED MUDGUARDS !, STAINLESS STEEL SILL TREAD PLATES

    AIR-CON,ABS BRAKES,ELECTRIC WINDOWS,  MIRRORS  AND  AERIAL !!!

'KENWOOD'    QUALITY  CD STEREO SYSTEM !! UPRATED DOOR SPEAKERS

    FACTORY  FOLDABLE  WIND-BLOCKER,CARPET OVER-MATS !

     'STERLING'  IMMOBILISER.

    and now a few pics..............

now a couple of questions arising from my journey home....

1.oil gauge in centre of dash,is this pressure or temp ( i've no handbook ) ignition on,nothing, start engine cold or hot and needles on the max, never moves ?? temp was ok,just over centre all the way back, anyone any ideas ?

    2. drivers side roof clip doesnt seem to snap locked like the passenger side, it popped slightly on the way home, push it back and it doesnt seem to "click" in, is it adjustable ?

    3. and finally, battery is a new one,3 months ago, i read that it should be a gel battery, from the look of the top with what look like the top up caps i'm gathering its a lead acid, any likely problem leaving it,or is it a wallet emptying job while its still open lol

right, 130 miles in the rain, suns out now,its buckets and sponge time... Ian.

The latch is adjustable, and if you can't lock it into position (due to the tension) so that the locking catch engages, then it can be slackened off.

There is a plastic shroud which swivels out away from an hexagon bar adjuster in the latch, small spanner if too tight but usually finger tight and adjustable. The plastic shroud holds the hexagon bar in place so that it doesn't loosen off.

Worth a try before you replace it.

Re: Hi from a new yorkshire owner

Thanks for that, will have a go another day, slightly wet here Protest. roof isnt as bad as i thought, all appears dry when i just had a look between showers, bit in bottom of spare wheel well ( so little it could be condensation ? )but seats and footwells all dry and looks ok behind seats but i gather it can look dry but you need to remove the carpet for a better view , but rain again stopped investigation, hopefully we'll get to the Lawnswood meet as long as nothing serious comes up. thanks for your time. Ian.

    Hi Ian

Spotted ya this morning at the traffic lights with ya roof down, you was driving toward's what would have been the old entrance to the top part of Pontefract hospital, I was crossing at the lights and did give you a wave, car looked lovely by the way.

    Cheers

    Marcus.

Hi, welcome to the forum, love the car.

Is that a Laguna splitter or similar that has been added or is it original ?

What ever it is it sets off the front of the car very well Thumbs upWaving.

Hi, dont know that much about the car,it was "special package" model, it came with the factory option 'mazdaspeed' front spoiler with lamps and splitter,so it's factory fit,it also mentions jdm parts so might be one of them Confused, confused.com lol,Have to let you lot under it to see what it is or I think i've seen something on here for finding out about the car by posting the car details ( cant remember if it covered imports though),and you find out where built ,what bits etc but ive lost it again Hitting head on wall, anyway,1 week in and still grinning. Ian.
