My sister is married to a farmer and they have a secretary for the paper work. A couple of months ago the secretary's AA renewal came through at around £150. She decided she wasn't happy so phoned. the call centre voice immediately dropped it to £100, secretary decided still not good enough. Call voice put her on hold for a minute, checked with someone and came back at £78. Accepted. A month later my sister's renewal came through and the secretary said leave it to me. Same scenario - initial quote dropped to £100, rejected, on hold, check and come back with further reduced offer. Secretary was miffed because it was a couple of quid less than hers. Lesson - challenge twice.
This is what happens when fine old organisations like AA and RAC are bought out by investment banks who have big bonuses to pay their greedy high flyers.
