    Jacking/support points

     Hi

I saw a thread or two on this the other day but cannot find it anywhere for some reason, so apologies if it is somewhere obvious!

My question is to do with axle stand support and where to put it. I read in the threads above that the best place is on the wishbone pivots and that is where I normally put them. However, I am planning a removal of the front subframe so the wishbone pivots are out of the question. I am aware that the rest of the chassis rails/body areas are likely to crush so where to put the stands? Am I looking at big baulks of timber across the underside and just rest the car on that or is there somewhere better to support?

Oh, and I am planning to do it by leaving the engine supported and drop the frame away from it.

    Thanks

    Rick

The proper lifting point is between the two sets of drain holes at each end of each sill.

At the ends of the chassis rails just before the upward curves. The steel is double thickness there and plenty strong enough to take axle stands, preferably with a piece of wood as a sandwich to spread the load.
