    Crankshaft Pulley Bolt.

I'm in the middle of changing the cambelt on my "94 Eunos as its done 98k km and it should have been done at 90k. Have followed manual procedures and am at critical stage. Can anyone tell me how to remove the Crankshaft pulley bolt from the crankshaft nose. Unless I can do this everything done so far is for nothing. I've tried jarring it against the compression and heating it but to no avail. Any advice will be helpful as it's many years since I've done anything like this. Many thanks in advance.

    Re: Crankshaft Pulley Bolt.

You either need a crankshaft locking tool (available to loan to club members) or you can lock the crank by threading some cord into No.1 cylinder as the piston is coming back up to TDC in the reverse direction to normal engine rotation. You need a 600mm breaker-bar and 6 point (impact) socket. Am not sure heating the bolt is a very good idea tbh.

If you were in S Wales I have a locking tool you could borrow....

    Many Thanks Dr Eunos,

Is reverse rotation anti clockwise when looking at the cranshaft bolt from the front? Unfortunately I'm in Chatham so I'm unable to take you up on your kind offer of a loan of your crankshaft locking tool. Is this a universal tool that I can hire or is it a special available through the trade?

    Re: Crankshaft Pulley Bolt.

    Hi RickyWG

Spent a week entertaining myself trying to do the same thing last Autumn!! Eventually followed advice on the internet and used a 2ft lenght of scaffold pipe wedged against the floor of the garage (on the nearside-L/H). First short touch on the starter motor and it moved, next touch and it was loose. Sounds more drastic than it is!! Good Luck.

Thats a  good way if you have key wear, my problem with this without the right tools, is how did you torque it back up correct, and know that it is right.

    Re: Crankshaft Pulley Bolt.

If someone could do a simple sketch with dimensions of the crank locking tool and scan and post on here it would be handy. Then it would be possible for owners to make a tool up. It seems to be just a round boss with the centre hole and 4 bolt holes with a stepped handle welded to it so would be easy to make.

    Regards, Phil.
