    Introducing myself and new car

Hi, I have just bought a mk1 Roadster.

I've had it about a month to be honest, but have been too busy with work to give it much attention.

Last week though i started to do some 'fettling'

    • new plugs
    • changed oil
    • changed auto oil (someone had had a go at bashing a hole in transmission sump from the inside!)
    • drained and refiled coolant (very filthy!)
    • new air filter
    • new standard exhaust (the MX5 parts twin pipe one was SO LOUD - it had to go. I got £56 for it on ebay)

    This week:

    • had the near side electric window fixed by 'alans auto electrics of warrenby'
    • they also rerouted the fog light to the off-side reversing light (the add on 'brick' was really ugly)
    • bought a space saver wheel and new boot carpet - fitted these
    • cleaned engine bay (had been a big leak from cam cover - plug holes were full of oil)
    • sanded cam cover and painted yellow
    • refitted cam cover with new gasket and CAS o-ring
    • cleaned out rear drains using a waxoil probe - lots of 'ditch water' was released!
    • replaced cracked off-side read light cluster (bought replacement from AK automotive in Rowlands Gill)
    • put side light lenses in friends dishwasher and dried in oven at 90 deg - no more condensation!

Phew - lots still to do though!

I think Simon has quite cleverly used the Nato phonetic alphabet to elaborate on MX5 for his forum name?
