    Wheel alignment, Yorkshire area.

Can anyone recommend a decent wheel alignment centre in Yorkshire, I'm in Boroughbridge, near Ripon but happy to travel farther affield if someone knows a good garage.

Cheers (and sorry if this should have gone elsewhere on the forum!)

I tried to find one last year, or it maybe was 2007, but the nearest I got was the garage at Busby Stoop. When I went in to see them, the equipment seamed  to be what was needed to do a full wheel alignment so I then asked Tony at WIM to speak with them. Tony at WIM checked them out for me but he wasn't satisfied that they new how to use the equipment properly, if I remember correctly. At that time they couldn't print a readout of what they would have done for some reason. Shame really as they are quite close  to us both.

Unless anyone knows better, Nigel Lang's Garage at Bolton is probably the nearest "WIM approved" alignment centre for our region.

Contact Tony at Wheels in Motion to get an up to date costing. I am going to bite the bullet some time soon and travel down to WIM as everyone seems to consider him to be the best and it will be worth it for a few extra miles. I'll treat it as a day out with an early start.

    Polyana,

Will travel down in convoy if you fancy? Some time between early Oct and early Nov would suit as I want to get mine done pre-Oulton Park.

Early in October would suit me better if that is ok with you.  We will need to contact Tony at WIM to fix up an appointment, bearing in mind that we will be travelling there and back in a day. October 5th ,6th or 7th would suit me.

Just noticed this thread - I used to have a TT Quattro, wheel alignment on those things is pretty critical.  Well, on a tip-off I had my wheels aligned by Mill Volvo in Knaresborough.  They were very good, cured the uneven tire wear completely.  Just an FYI for anyone who lives thereabouts.

    Re: Wheel alignment, Yorkshire area.

    Cheers buddy,

I had mine laser aligned at my local garage last friday, just in time for an Oulton Park trackday. It feels a lot better but i'm still no convinced its perfect so maybe a run to the coast will be a good excuse to get the old girl out during the coming months...

    Cheers for the tip-off.

Probably a bit late but I can set your MX5 up. I only use the basic 'laser' tracking guages but also with camber and caster measurment and adjustment possible, I have good results on many track day cars as well as standard road cars, I also track day an MX5 myself so know the ins and outs of the suspension. I am very local in Knaresborough, just round the corner from Mill volvo, as it happens.

Just had my Eunos Alignment set up by Nigel Langs garage and was very pleased with the work carried out.

    Re: Wheel alignment, Yorkshire area.

How are you liking the Meister-R coilovers?

For any other Yorkshiremen who are not over to the west and thus conveniently placed for a trip to Lang's in Bolton, a trip down the M1 to Roddison's Motorsport at Meadowhall, Sheffield are an excellent alternative. As many of you will know, Paul has many years experience in setting up MX-5s for the track and has full 3D alignment facilities. Very reasonably priced as well.
