Yip sure - it's on my laptop, so I'll send it off once I'm home.

I've very intention of uploading it (along with every other document I've told people I'll upload but never have) - There is a similar document that Geoff made here - http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/files/folders/6192/download.aspx, which is worth a look at, but mine makes it even easier Stick out tongue

    Re: Holiday France

One of the best roads I have come across in France is the D629 from St Ferriol to Carcassonne, through Les Cammazes, and Saissac.... I have never had the pleasure in an MX-5, but it was fun in a hired Megane, so in an MX-5, I imagine it would be a scream. I did have photos, but sadly my hard drive and back up drive both chose to pack in the other day - in a catastrophic way - and I have lost 6 years of photos.

I am just outside Hull... However, a good friend of mine is an expert in the field, and although he is still working on it, has thus far been unsuccessful. But thank you so much for the offer - very kind.

On a happier note - I am planning a little trip down to that neck of the woods myself possibly in July... so at last I will get a crack at that road in the MX-5.

    Re: Holiday France

Just returned form a couple of weeks in Antibes.

Used it as a base to explore the region (click on France 2010 then on slide show) came back up the N 75 through the Alps to Grenoble, Route Napoleon.

About two thirds of the way the road was closed and we were diverted up a mountain pass (click on video Alpine Diversion) Windows Media file.

It took us up and down two mountains, at the top of one there was a sign Beware of Avalanches and totaled about 60 miles the MX 5 was built for these roads. An Audi tried to keep up but I left it for dead at every hairpin and there were plenty of those.

Also spotted a British registered red Mk 1 in Ventimiglia and another French registered red I think Mk 2 heading east on the A 8 from Monaco towards Nice.

Great driving, great holiday can't wait to do it all over again.

I live in Narbonne so you can ask me for nice roads there and great places to eat and sleep.

I can also advice you for areas such as La Rochelle (Atlantic coast), Clermont-Ferrand (center).

Have a nice time and as said above, do not forget your sunglasses and your hat ^<>^

    Re: Holiday France

     Hi all,

We are hoping to drive down to the Bergerac region of France during the summer, and although we've travelled a fair bit throughout Europe, it's always been in our Passat, using motorways and toll roads, at warp factor five. This time, I want to avoid all that and have a steady 'ish' trundle down in the 5, probably making one overnight stop, as, according to Google maps, it takes around 15 hours travelling from Zeebrugge. Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best route, and good, soft top friendly places to stay half way?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Trev.

    Re: Holiday France

     Hi Trev

I would love to help, Sam and I are going back down to Monaco at the end of July for a week and then back up to Normady first week in August. But I found that if I programe my Sat Nav for no motorways I get some realy good roads, the first night we are staying in Aranc in the middle of the french alps. So have a great time no matter what you see or do you will have fun in your 5.Big Smile
